I am 53 and just completed my accounting degree. I had a conviction for temporary deprivation of property over 25 years ago. I was applying to nasba for the first exam and saw the question about convictions. Can anyone tell me if this will prevent me from sitting for the exam? I would like to point out that I passed two FBI checks when I worked at two banks in Kansas and Missouri

Call you state board and ask them. Also, just because you answer yes to a question doesn't mean you can't sit for the exam.

I had to answer yes and explain by sending a letter about how my life has changed since my felony. Each case goes before the board and I found them to be very understanding.

Our value does not come from our skills and abilities, as good as they may be; it does not come from our GPA, our job, a promotion from that job to a better job, our success on the CPA exam, or anything of the like; but our value comes from the fact that we have a Creator who loves us, cares for us, and desires to help us navigate the rough waters of this life in a way that provides security, hope, and true, everlasting joy while we anticipate the life to come, with Him.
