I work at a big firm in NYC and am curious how the compensation structure for partners is made up. It seems like everyone has their own opinion on how partners are paid but there is no consensus answer. (FYI I am talking about big firms my firm has a few hundred partners all over the country.)
questions: Is there salary mostly base or commission?
Are they required to invest a minimum amount of their own capital, i.e. 100K investment per partner min.?
Are some partners paid more than others? And how does that work?
If anyone has first hand knowledge of these matters it would be extremely interesting to find out/ know sorta what the end result of public accounting could be.
