I’ve been working all morning so I just saw the news about the earthquake. I hope everyone is alright. Check in if you can and let us know that you are alright.

I can’t imagine how it feels to have the earth start shaking, especially in the middle of the night.

    Thanks for checking in Kricket!

The epicenter was about 5 miles from my house, so we got some rockin' and rollin' this morning! Whew. Our power just went back on, and all seems ok. Friends lost a lot of glassware and got some foundation cracks, but no one I know was injured, thank goodness. My daughter slept through the entire thing; all the animals were pretty nervous. I really thought the house was going to fall down – it was a violent, back and forth shaking that seemed to last longer than previous quakes I've been in. Now we wait for aftershocks. So glad I finished FAR last week. That would have shaken up my study schedule. (Pun intended.)

    Thanks Kricket.

I'm in SoCal so I didn't know or feel anything. I only found out this morning when I turned on the news.

SF here, it woke me up, but nothing like 1989.

But someone in yoga class slept right through it.

I'm so glad that y'all are alright. I just cannot imagine how that must feel and I don't want to know! Great big chicken! That's me!

    @CPA50 – 5 miles!!! Isn't that like seriously close?

@Skynet – I thought you were in CA but I wasn't sure where. I didn't know you were a veteran! Totally cool! THANK YOU!!!

@M.O.D. – You went to yoga after that?!?! WOW!

@kappa1032 – Is this going to change your date with REG?

    @ Kricket

It is like someone shaking your bed for a few seconds. People don't get hurt because we are flexible, but concrete (and brick) is not, thus the damage to the buildings. But all new buildings now have to be earthquake resistant, it is in building codes. So it is old construction we need to worry about.

In California, every 2-3 years there is some (mild) earthquake so people get used to them.

I get the people are flexible part, but I've seen enough hurricane damage to know what bricks and 2×4's do to people. My husband is actually a certified building inspector so I understand the importance of building codes. It's kind of ironic that y'all have to worry about the old construction during an earthquake and we worry more about new construction during a hurricane. The older homes are usually the only ones left standing. I'm just glad you are alright.

@Kricket – no change to my REG test date! Nothing short of a major disaster will stop me from taking that test since it's my last possible month before my NTS expires.

That's not to say the test itselft will be a major disaster…that's a whole other story =)

Yeah Kricket, 5 miles is pretty much sitting right on top of it. I've been through many rolling types, but this one actually tweaked my back from the violence of the shaking. And, I'm not certain that I could do hurricanes 🙂

@kappa – You got this! You know a lot more than you think. Having confidence in yourself is half the battle!

@CPA50 – Hurricane's are pretty easy, if you are smart. There are two simple steps:

    1. Grab your family and your stuff.

    2. Get out of the way!!!

You guys are sweet to worry! We're in south Napa and it was the most violent one I've ever been in, and I've been in CA since age 5 and felt a bunch of them. No damage to our house structure but we have holes in the wall to patch up, cabinets to put back up, etc. Totally helped me get some perspective about What's Important in Life to get over my moping about the 74 I got on REG in the last score release. 😉

I'm in Sac and didn't feel a thing! Woke up and started right in on rewriting my NINJA notes for REG and my hubby mentioned there was an earthquake in Napa… I said huh… Usually they report these little ones all over the news like it is a big deal, so I figured it was another one of those. But a 6.0, that's a pretty good one. And after looking at the news, definitely not a usual one.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!

I was actually awake during the earthquake, I live in SF and I thought it wouldn't end. My house has 4 levels and it was quite shaky.

And yes, I was studying at 3AM late Saturday (Early Sunday).

I'm in Ventura County so we are too far to feel it. However, I lived very close to the epicenter of the 94 quake in Northridge and thought the world was coming to an end. Not fun! Thoughts are with you Northern Cali….
