Careers in OPS/MSCM?

    Hi all,

I recently volunteered to become a mentor for students at the University of Washington, and got paired with a student interested in Operations and supply chain management. I work in assurance at PwC, so don’t really know much about OPS/MSCM. We got matched because I was a Financial Econ major and she’s interested in that.

Does anyone have any info/advice on the career options in OPS/MSCM, or finance fields? Maybe like what your job is, what you do, do you like it, suggestions, etc?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

Care to define OPS/MSCM? I googled it and the first and only relevant link that came up was your A71 post…sorry if I am just a newb.

@CPjAson – I also work for PwC and I actually work only in Assurance Operations – I just switched in December and really am liking this side of things. I've also worked over the years with some people who deal with Project Management / Supply Chain Management in our advisory practice. PwC definitely has the opportunities to explore these types of roles – just need to find the right people to connect with.

For operations management I can offer advice from a distribution perspective. I'm an operations manager for a distribution company and absolutely love it. Studying for CPA to move in to finance with same company (hopefully).

Have her read “The Goal.” Awesome supply chain mgmt. book…we read it in my supply chain mgmt. class when taking my MBA.
