I have been curious about the general age range of those who take the CPA exam. I am 41 and sometimes feel like I am an old person taking the exam. Any thoughts on age — are you just out of college and in your 20’s or is anyone here a bit older, like myself?

Mamabear you make two very valid points: 1) Children suck all essential brain function and memory control, 2) TAXES ARE EVIL! I feel your pain!

But i am noticing that people in mid 30 and 40's have lower passing scores for some reason but all good, a pass is a pass!

I am on the downward slide to 50 and finishing up this exam. I finished up a second degree in 2009 and was going to take the exam then but life somehow had intervened (my in-laws both got sick and my husband and I were caregivers). Fast forward to 2011 and I decided to get my Masters and then take the exam. So it is NEVER too late. I am hoping to finish this up before my next birthday (in January) — God willing.

    Best wishes Hopeful 🙂

Yup, I know all about caring for aging in-laws 🙂

Let's go get this FAR and REG together!

    AUD 88 (expired), 80 retake
    FAR 64,69,67,73,67,73,73,73, August 3
    REG 75 (expired) September 7
    BEC 72, 77

    The adventure continues...

25 now, but took the exam my last semester of undergrad (between 22 and 23). Got my license just before turning 24.

It's never too late to advance your credentials. Even at age 50, most people will be working for st least another 5 years full time (a fairly early retirement). The great thing about having a CPA license is that it's probably fairly easy to stay gainfully employed part time or seasonally after leaving full time work. At least, it seems that way. I could deal with the frustrations of audit/tax/etc if I could see a way out in 2-4 months.

These posts are awesome. I'm 26 and I took some time off from college and went back while working full time and I've always respected the adult student and 100% support all of those who take the risk of going back to school and taking the cpa at a later point in life.

Mid 30's but I'm hoping in the next 8-10 years to be rich, own my own CPA firm, and is married to some hot and young female accountant barely graduating from college and is more than half my age.

@leglock -Oh good, maybe we can go on a double date. Me and my half my age wife and you and your 75 year old Sugar Mama.

I would like to follow your plan marrying and older woman, but Kricket here is Hell bent on staying in Louisiana and don't want to move to Sunny California.
