Can I apply to the NY board licensure while still completing the CPA?

I still have one more part to take, but since the application for licensure in NY takes 5 months, will I be able to apply for licensure in the meantime and evaluate my credits? By the time they look at my application, I would have completed the last part of CPA!

I don't thnk that would work. You have to list your passing scores for each test on one form and I think they will just consider it incomplete at that point. Plus NY has alot of rules that they don't publish so you might find out several months later that the notarized form is only good for x amount of days.

There is also the chance they might lose it. They won't have a probelm cashing your $377 on the day they recieve it though.

One rule is the CPA signing off on experience has to be a CPA in the same state as the experience. NY only says a CPA can sign off. There are alot of other stories on this forum about people having issues with NY.

Steph08: As i'm sure you're aware of the fact that NYS requires work experience for Licensing. Unfortunately, they don't want you to mail in the Form 4 and 4B, until AFTER you've completed all 4 exams, and have received passing grades. That said If you have the required amounts of College Credits/Hrs already 150, then I would assume u can mail in your Form 1? W/e the application form is with the required fee. As other poster stated, if your claiming experience in NYS, the supervising attorney must be a NYS CPA.

THE 300 CLUB WILL DO JUST FINE!
