Hello All:
Is this possible (title of post)? Can a current supervisor phone a new company and badmouth me after handing in my letter of resignation? I was honest and told my supervisor my new employer. In stead of her congratulating me or whatever–she looks me dead in the eye and states: “You are making a big mistake!” Also, giving me all negative feedback regarding my decision for entering public accounting. I boldly stood my ground and gave her my two cents as to why I want/ need to go into audit; I never once said any negative comments about her or my job–but on the contrary, I could have given her a piece of my mind; instead kept it professional. Oh, and I gave a 3.5 week notice not like the traditional 2. Furthermore, I have not mentally checked out, yet!
Friendly FYI, one of my references was her predecessor whom I worked for 2.5 years and gotten to know well. He was the best controller/manager I come to know.
Should I nervously worry that she knows whom I’ll be working for?
Thanks for your input!
