I know many of us plan on eventually “hanging a shingle” after getting licenses, but who here has started or is planning to start their own NON-financial business?

I’ve day-dreamed about small business ownership ever since high school and the businesses have ranged from a horse farm to a coffeehouse to a music studio to a crossfit gym to, obviously, a CPA firm. When my husband finishes school he and I will be taking over his family’s chiropractic clinic and, in addition to “hanging a shingle,” I can still very much see myself wanting to open one of my other business brain children. Just interested to see if some fellow candidates have aspirations outside of “CPA.” =)

I've been self-employed for 3 years since I quit my day job and decided to run another71 full time.

You have to plan everything out…you can't just jump. That's a mistake some people make I think and they crash.

Check out Jon Acuff's book “Quitter”

ooOOOoo, I will definitely be ordering that. I don't necessarily agree with all of his theories, but I really admire Dave Ramsey's methods and passion for teaching financial accountability. I've been inching through his book EntreLeadership when I need study breaks, I'll have to check this one out next =) Thanks Jeff!

I have a small bookkeeping business which is helping me pay for my MBA. I would like to get into consulting other businesses on how to make their processes more efficient and maximizing profits; I guess that's still financial based. I'll have to keep following this thread, becoming a successful entrepreneur is my ultimate goal.

I own a website that sells motorcycle leather and bike bags. My husband and I also own a custom gun shop (he is a gunsmith) where he does custom work, duracoat painting, and he builds match grade 1911's. I will probably do some bookkeeping on the side in the future but I plan on staying where I am for a while (corporate)

Got it, thanks! Haha, I like sigs, but my wallet liked the LCP better. I've got a post-student-loan-payoff wishlist running, though 😉
