    Hello All!

I am the first time applicant and mailed the remittance form and $100 check to CBA 2 weeks ago in 2/13.

I tracked my application delivery and it says delivered, but no updates on my CBA application status. CBA application says “remittance form created” and no updates since. I keep checking my bank account and the board did not cash out check yet either.

Does anyone have any ideas when the board will cash out check and update application status?

Thanks! and good luck to everyone!

For first time applicants, it normally takes about 7-8 weeks (because that's how long it took mines) to process your application which involves scanning your transcript if you have met the qualifications required. For re-takers, it takes about 2 weeks of process.

Since you are a first time applicant, if you have met the requirements, you should receive an email from them notifying you can sit for exam and also notifying you that they are transmitting your info to NASBA that takes about a day or so, then you can select which parts you would like to sit for on CBA website.

Then, give it few days and NASBA will send you link to pay for test fee you would like to sit, and I believe after that they will send you NTS.

@J King – Thanks. How long did the board take to cash out your check?

    I did a money order.

If you go to your CBA account, and you see you are on “step 4”, that means they have received (and processed) your check. I believe the “remittance form created” is “step 3”

    Step 3: Remittance form created
Step 4: CBA receives your payment
Step 5: CBA approves your application, allowing you to select for exam part you would like to take

No problem. Yeah, that's CBA for you – turtle slow

Are you sure though that you have met the requirements? If so, I would start studying right away while waiting, FAR in particular.

Edit: If you get an email from them (assuming you opted to receive email from CBA), then it means your application has been approved, therefore you can select for exams to sit

However, if you get a “physical” document from them through direct mail, then it means you do not meet requirements. And I believe that even though you DO NOT MEET the requirements, they are still going to take your payment since it's nonrefundable.

@J King – Thank you so much for your follow up! I am positive that I have all exam sitting requirements and have confirmed with the CBA that they have received all of my transcripts already. I am waiting that exam unit confirms that they received my application and payment so I know they started to evaluate my application.
I am currently studying for FAR and AUD which I hope to take exam during the 2Q if CBA would approve my application on time :).

I don't know man, you said you mailed your payment on Feb 13th..

So given the span how long the application process takes for first-time applicants, you're looking at your application getting approved between late March and early April 2018.

Then after they approved your application, they will transmit your credentials to NASBA which takes within 24 hours, and then you can select to take exam parts.

Then you pay to NASBA for the test fees you plan to sit, and after that they will issue you NTS and ask you to schedule your exam on Prometric.

Depending on how many Prometric locations nearby your area (I live in NorCal and I have 3), and depending on the vacant spots available (because Prometric hosts other kinds of exams, not just CPA) I'd say the chances of sitting for 2 exams during Q2 is quite low, unless you plan to take two exams in a day or something, then that's different story and it is not recommended.

@J King – Yeah I mailed it on Feb 13th and they received the mail on Feb 14th. I live outside of the US so I can basically take exam wherever there is a spot open if NTS arrives on time.
I guess I just have to wait until there are any updates. I will be able to take exam in 2Q if Im lucky lol or not, guess I have to take them on 3Q haha

CA is very slow. I am a retake candidate and Even my retake applications take over three weeks for them to process.

Also I would suggest to keep checking CBA. emails I get with payment coupons are sometimes a day or two late while status in CBA updates.

@Allsheneededwassome – Thanks for the information! yeah CA seems to be very slow. I will keep in touch with them until I get approved 🙂

for information to others: I got in contact with CBA mailroom and cashier's unit, they said they are behind in casher's unit, still processing mails received from the first week of February.

Hi cpafor2018, I wonder if you heard anything from CBA? I'm also a first time applicant and CBA received my application, a $100 money order and all my transcript on 02/07/2018 but my status still is Remittance payment received by Board and I haven't heard from them since then?
