Is anyone else ingesting copious amounts of caffeine to stay up late/get up early to study? I’m drinking coffee in the morning, soda in the afternoon, green tea at night…and anything else I can get my hands on in between.

I’m 2 weeks out until FAR – I hope I can break my caffeine habit after the exam is over.

I honestly drink about a pot and a half of coffee almost daily. I just told my wife the other day that I hope I can slack off of it after this exam is over! At least I know that I am definitely not the only one! The rate that this exam is going for me, I will have to go to substance abuse classes to help get of caffeine! Bahahahaha! I would also like to add that I would rather be drinking all of this coffee to finish this exam vs. having to tell my son later on when he gets older that I could have passed that exam, but I quit.

I would slowly taper off to minimize withdrawl. Also, make sure you get enough sleep. I don't need as much caffeine if I get enough sleep. Sleep is king.

I was popping 5-hour energy drinks like crazy leading up to the AUD exam. It would allow me to put in some long hours and I thought it may help me get a better score than my FAR test. Although I didn't drink it the day before, I was unable to fall asleep until 8 am before my 12:30 pm test. I got about 3 hours of sleep, popped my another one, rushed to Prometric, and was in a daze for the first two MC test-lets. I only got a 72 on my test. I'm not making an excuse for failing the test, but I don't think the 5-hour energy helped. They claim there is no sugar crash, but there is definitely some type of crash. It took me a week to get over it. For me, caffeine and CPA study don't go well together.

Amazon is my savior with an order of 100 K-Cups of Caramel Vanilla Cream every 15 days. Yes the math is correct… an average of six-plus cups a day. Up from two cups a day before this quest. Should be approaching 500 cups of coffee at the end of the month but if I am passing… I don't really care about the intake. However, this points out these exams are costing me more than the fees and study materials by themselves.

Drinking too much coffee won't boost your energy level at all. Quite the opposite, actually. Google it. Drink water instead, that will keep you awake and make your body feel good while studying.

I drink one coffee in the morning and one after lunch, and then water in between.

I just take caffeine and l-theanine pills. It works way better for me than caffeine and the l-theanine evens you out and gives focus.

@juliemiddle hey julie I noticed that you failed FAR the first time and passed with flying colors the next time, congrats! I'm curious what you did differently the second time around to study and how you think you increased your score by so much? Did you rewatch the lectures and redo all of the sims and MC? I passed Audit, BEC and REG and then failed FAR twice and am getting really discouraged. I'm just starting to study for it again and trying to decide the most efficient and effective method of studying for it. Thanks!

How can you down cups of coffee and then go listen to lectures without bouncin' in your seat the whole time? Too much caffeine makes it so hard for me to stay focused!
