    Hello Friends,

Here I am with another set of questions. Yesterday, I got my final score and now I am done with this examination part of becoming CPA. I was looking online what to do next to gain experience. But I am in dilemma what to do? I have masters degree and I have full 150 credits, I will be getting my EAD (authorization for a work permit) in about month. Now, to receive CA license I believe I have to show 1 year of work experience. I have never worked so far in USA, And I am worried who will going to allow me to work for my licensing requirement.

One of my friend have recently applied for MA license (non reporting license) Which doesn’t require any experience provided you have 150 credits. I guess I fit in to that, but should I go ahead and take MA license?

I don’t even find any specific details online about after clearing all 4 sections of CPA within how much time you have to get your license? I am so worried and confused about how to move ahead and what to do best in my situation.

Can someone please help me with this. If anyone of you from CA and have already got your license any advice what should I do? how to launch myself in market? What can be my best options?

This forum have been a great help in my CPA journey so far, really looking for some advice. Please share your thoughts and inputs.

    Thank you all.

Why you want to be licensed? Are u planning to live in the us?

I don't know if it is just my country, once we pass all sections of exam we can present ourselves as cpa even if not licensed because int candidates are not able to work in the us.

But I heard if you work in your country and fulfill the experience requirement you can still apply for license.

I worked in us with EAD(1 yr permit) and it took me a couple of months to find a job so it might not be possible to fulfill the experience requirement unless you can start working rightaway with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe exam scores never expire in California once you've passed all 4 parts. It is the Ethnics exam score that will expire after 2 years if you're not licensed by then. It really depends on what you're trying to do with the license. If you're going to be working in CA, I don't think a CPA in MA will do much for you.

Yes I will be staying in USA and will be working too. So, is it ok to just clear exams and not to have a license. If I am not wrong we can't call ourself CPA unless and until we have a license from a respective state.

So, what to do? how to hunt for a opportunity where I can gain experience requirement of 1 year as per CA state requirement?

Is it going to be volunteering or intern position for 1 year? it should be with just a CPA firm?

jueporo you can never be a CPA by just passing the exam. A state has to grant you a certificate or permit/license to practice. Calling yourself a CPA just after passing the exams is not ok. Your country doesn't verify license numbers for CPAs?

Yah it's just our country thing. We don't exactly present we are CPA here because we can't never be a CPA with USCPA license anyway. But when we are preparing resume we can say we have AICPA. When firms are looking for AICPA holders that means people who just passed 4 sections of exam. They check the scores so the higher the scores the higher chances to get the position.
