Hi guys. Have you ever seen people score in the 90s in their first attempt at one part.. such as BEC.. and then fail another part.. like FAR?

People’s scores seem to stay within a 10-15 point range from what I’ve been seeing in everyone’s signature.

What’s the difference in your highest first attempt and lowest first attempt score?

I've noticed similar things as well. At some point I did some statistics to predict future scores based on current scores– and I wish I didn't lose that data. It was interesting. Oh well.

Basically the gist of it was that the higher your average was, the less variance there was in your reported scores.

FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

That's because when I started studying for AUD I had a very flexible job schedule (non-accounting) where i could work from home 3x/wk so I was mostly working 6am-2pm on those days and had most of my afternoons and evenings studying. I studied for almost 2 months for AUD. After passing AUD, i knew i had to start working in the accounting field. I started my accounting job and still kept my non-accounting job as part-time. I studied for both BEC and FAR for less than one month while working two jobs. Doing same thing for REG (taking it aug 31). the way my scores are going… i hope i dont get 74 for REG! lol.

Yeah your scores are definitely very close. Did you study about the same amount for each test?

I studied about 170 for FAR, 130 for AUD, and 100 for BEC. REG's probably gonna come in around 150-155.

Wow thats a lot of hours lol. I haven't really kept track. I feel like I studied a lot more for AUD than I have for BEC, but my practice scores for BEC are already better, so I hope it's not making me over confident.

i studied 2 nights during the week for 3 hrs then Saturday for about 10hrs and Sunday 6 hrs. So about 20hrs per week for both BEC and FAR for almost 3 weeks and then take couple days off work before exam day to do final review before the exam. I def did not have time to do any of the Becker sim for both FAR and BEC. Did not do practice exams or progress tests either. and did not finish ALL MCQs – no optional questions. Same with AUD. I did some of the becker sims but not all. did one practice exam and probably 4 rounds of 30 question progress tests. I would say i got lucky on ALL of my exams. Hopefully my luck works with REG.lol

24 point difference between BEC and REG. Probably because my undergrad was business & accounting and graduate was straight MBA that BEC was pretty easy for me, but I basically coasted through my tax classes without paying attention so REG's been a huge pain in my rear. I hate every single thing about REG!!

Wow that 24 point difference is pretty scary! I did literally nothing in both Tax and B-Law so I'll be studying A LOT for REG when I get there….

My first exam to second exam jumped 25 points. I haven't re-studied for AUD yet but for me the material seemed to be common sense so I had blind confidence, also my testing date was delayed a month so I reviewed and then had to retain the info for a month :(. For AUD I was mostly worried about the amount of time I put in, I think it was around 120 hours and for REG I took detailed notes and focused more on understanding the material and stopped keeping track of how long I was studying. REG was during tax season so real experience also helped a lot.

My third exam dropped back down by 15 points mostly bc it was the end of a testing window and I wanted to knock out FAR but didn't have time to review, didn't practice a single SIM.

My biggest difference was between FAR and AUD for first time attempts, which was a 24 point difference (FAR 89 – AUD 65). I feel like the biggest reason for this difference was my study habits. When I took AUD, I as already at this for a year and I just could not focus on the material. My focus for FAR was much much better than AUD since it was my first test.

Good question, I was wondering the same thing. I sure hope my REG score is within 15 points of my FAR score! I did better on my practice exams and multiple choice questions on REG compared to FAR, but on the actual exam, I think I did better on the FAR simulations than the REG simulations. Unfortunately, I was unable to locate the correct IRC even though I searched for 40 minutes (I put in the code for something close, but doubt they give partial credit). For FAR I was able to answer the research problem in 5 minutes. Ugggh, is it August 21 yet?

I have seen many people do awesome on Audit, since they have significant experience in that area, and then not as hot on the rest. I studied the fewest hours and least efficient for BEC, but for me it is the easiest subject matter by far. Audit was very tricky for me, I prefer computational questions. Some of the people who do well on BEC don't do well on AUD and vice versa. FAR and REG are purely what you put in you get out, and both require the highest number of study hours.
