Hey All,

I am sure this has been asked before but I was hoping to get some more particular insight. From my understanding when someone relocates to a more expensive city within the Big 4, they often get a minimal COL adjustment (sometimes making less than their peers).

My question is for anyone who has been in this situation and if they saw this being adjusted to a more “market friendly” or “competitive” rate after the next compensation review?

I will be starting at B4 this September in Boston. A friend of mine started at the same B4 in San Diego at the beginning of July. He will be making about 4k less per year. You can also find this info on glassdoor.

Anyway, he did a little research before moving out there, and that tends to be with all major companies. It is pretty competitive in that area. He said he will get typical bonuses and adjustments like everyone else, but that we always tend to make a little bit more in certain areas do to the cost of living. So, on paper it looks like I make more, but with the costs in Boston it really is about the same. They do a lot of research to come up with these numbers, and it ends up being fair.
