I got a winter position at one of the big 4- KPMG with a 3.0. I just got back my grades and I have one D in tax and one C in intermediate. I didn’t too well in my other classes too. This unfortunately dropped me to a 2.94.

They didn’t ask for my transcript. Am I supposed to say something and let them know even if they don’t ask for it? I am supposed to start in the firm at mid-Jan 16.

Also, if I do really well in the internship..is there any chance they will overlook this? I am graduating with 136 credits and I will take couple classes in a community college..which makes me eligible for the CPA exam before starting in the firm if they offer me a full time.

Maybe you can let them know later when you already done with your winter position, so maybe in the end of your winter contract, they can consider your hard work and your performance instead of your GPA.

Can you take a winter term course somewhere that will bring your GPA back up – just something easy that will be finishing or done by the time you start at the firm?

From my understanding, Big 4 is very strict about GPAs, but they also make exceptions when they really like the person. So, if you do amazing during your internship, you might get around the GPA rules, but having a low GPA is definitely going to stack the deck against you with Big 4. At least from what I've heard.
