So i just was able to get a transfer to Boston for a big 4 and they said the start date is august 2016. Its for KPMG audit associate. My previous start date was around october 1 for my old office. Anyone know why this would change? Pretty sure national audit training for KPMG is last week of september, so usually there would be about 3 days of orientation starting wednesday-Friday and then we go to training. I’m just concerned because I wanted to have all of August and September to study for the CPA exam before I start working full-time

Starting dates all depend on the needs of the office at times. I am going back to public and the partner I interviewed with told me he needed me to start yesterday because they have work to be done in December. I was pushing for a later start date but ended up putting in 2 weeks notice and starting right after that.

If its a concern then you should bring it up with your HR contact and ask if you can start in October. If you do not ask you will never know. The worst that can happen is they say no. And you can tell them that you were planning on studying for the exam that way when you start the exam is behind you and you can focus on work.
