i posted this in bec section too, can someone help me with variances? i watched this video > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt2X6OOXBdc&feature=player_embedded and it seemed to breakdown everything a little better, but is that table only for overhead variances (VOH/FOH)? Also it seems that you only use 2 of the 3 columns to solve for the variance? where as materials / labor i can use the PURE DADS nemonic, which also sometimes doesn’t work properly. Im mostly concerned about being able to compute simpler variances that the test will most likely have, i heard some members talk about a woman who taught yaeger and broke it down nicely, but i couldn’t find any videos.. thanks!

Unfortunately, Becker is very poor in Variances IMO. They could do a better job at it.

If I remember correctly my technique for variances would be this: calculate standard then calculate variance and subtract the difference. It worked well for all but one situation, but I believe that situation is NOT tested on the CPA exam

    Florida CPA!
    Took final exam 2/25/15.
    Sent in Application 3/12/15.
    Issued License 3/20/15.
Used CPA Excel solely for all exams.
