BEC study suggestions?

    Hi All,

Can anyone offer their study strategy for BEC? I have already completed the following:

AUD – CPA Excel used religiously, then NINJA MCQ for two weeks before exam

FAR – CPA Excel text/take notes, then NINJA MCQ for like six weeks before exam (feel like I wasted time even cracking those CPA Excel books)

I am tempted to go back to using the CPA Excel program as it’s meant to be, as I feel like I will pass for sure if I use it. However, I really WANT to just hammer NINJA MCQ and see if I can pass quickly. If I didn’t pass, though, it would jeopardize my timeline for completing all four sections, without losing credit for any.

For FAR, I found the NINJA text to be too succinct; I appreciate the extra “fluff” that CPA Excel adds to text, as I am able to retain more in context, rather than just bites of info to memorize. I am wondering if I should switch to NINJA text for BEC?

I am a working professional and excelled in my general business classes in school. I was also a cost accountant for three years at a manufacturing company. Many of my co-workers think BEC will be simple for me, but I am really afraid to take it for granted.

Any suggestions on how you studied? I work in public accounting as an auditor; we are still in busy-ish season, to give you an idea of my workload.

    I appreciate any feedback!

What kind of time frame are you facing?

    -----------------------------
    BEC - 77, 03/2015 (first try)
    FAR - 79, 05/2015 (second try)
    REG - 83, 12/2015 (first try)
    AUD - 84, 03/2015 (first try)

I got 99 problems but the CPA ain't one.

Hoping to take BEC in late July or August at the latest. We have busy season again Aug-Oct, so I was going to study REG during that time & after and take REG by Thanksgiving.

That would leave me with two extra attempts are REG if I failed the first time, before my credits start expiring for other sections. I expect REG to be my hardest section as I have zero tax/law experience and my college classes were wastes of time.
