What's your learning style for memorization? BC that's what that section is, memorization.

I agree with @DZagt. Flashcards are very useful in preparing for the IT section and BEC in general. I don't mean to scare you but I saw a lot of IT questions on my exam that I had not heard or read of so just do the best you can with revisiting the material as often as you can. If you're using Becker, I would definitely recommend reading the IT Appendix section more carefully even though the audio lectures ask you to just skim through it.

I would pick up a used ( but current ) IT textbook on Amazon. It is a lot easier to learn when you are given real life examples and situations….Like the kind of book you would use in an MBA curriculum course. I did this when Becker failed me at NFP and Gov’t accounting and it really worked.

I agree with other comments – flash cards. I had a ton of IT questions on my exam, something I didn't anticipate so definitely do not skip on that section. Good luck!

It such a random topic. Today after pounding MCQs for the last couple of weeks one of the correct answer choices was “existence check”. WTF I dont even recall that being mentioned anywhere I thought it was a nonsense choice to throw me off.

@DZagt – are you using Becker? Because that is one of my biggest frustration with how they've tackled BEC. I'm not a “hammer away at MCQ” type of guy when it comes to learning. I do much better reading and retaining concepts. For BEC, Becker has SO many questions that are on topics or terms not covered in the lectures/textbook. I can't even begin to tell you the amount of times I answer a question and wonder where in the textbook the term is mentioned, only to go to the e-book and search and not find it.

Don't get discouraged. From what I've been told, IT is a total crapshoot in regards to what can be asked, so just try to back into answers as best as you can through logic. That's unfortunately what I've had to do for that section.

Dude Im the same way. I cant just mindlessly pound away at MCQs I need to conceptually learn the material to feel comfortable. Im using Becker and NINJA MCQs. IT is killing me.

I find that hammer away MCQ questions are helpful to really get/apply the concepts, and they're working for most parts of BCE, but the stuff that's really manufactured BS without concept…the COSO and IT crap…are hard for me to learn because it's boring and because I don't care. Since there's less real concept to learn, it's harder to do the MCQ.
