I sat for BEC yesterday, and the exam is hardly what I expected. I walked in feeling much more confident than I have in my prior BEC attempts.
The first testlet was manageable. There were a few questions I wasn’t 100% sure on but still managed to have it narrowed down between 2 choices on those. Then came the second testlet…
I’m trying to avoid giving away too much info, but let’s just say that 20/31 questions were on one topic. 5/11 were on another. I’ve never seen anything like it in my 4 BEC attempts. Very few calculations, but the calculation questions were difficult.
The SIMS were actually manageable and I think I did reasonably well on them. Written communication has always been a thorn in my side, but I think I did enough.
Overall, I’m optimistic for a pass, but it will be very close. It’s very frustrating because the common concepts in BEC were not tested at all. As I mentioned, I felt very prepared for this exam, but was slapped in the face with something very different than what I expected. I honestly don’t see how they can say only 20% of the test is on this subject matter after 2/3s of my test being on one subject. Now the waiting for he 19th…
