The Prometric center has extended the testing window until 12/7 for the past two years because of weather. Anyone know if they are doing the same this year?

In 2013-the extension was announced on oct 18, in 2014-announced on nov 24 (before thanksgiving). I don't ever recall an announcement on the last day of a testing window. It can happen I suppose.

I took my Audit exam today. The attendant at the center told me they are staying open until 10pm tonight and open tomorrow to accommodate CPA testers.

Is the Prometric site showing any appointments for anyone for December? I managed to snag one but they're all gone…Wondering if it was NASBA mistake or if they filled up pretty fast. There were like 5-6 days of spots this afternoon and this evening there was nothing.

I can't find their official announcement – just that some people are seeing open dates. Does anyone have a link to an announcement or did NASBA just open up dates without ever announcing them? Cause that would be really lame if they didn't even make an announcement but still allowed it. 😐

Yea I assumed they would extend it also but I didn't want to give anyone false hope just in case it wouldn't happen. They've been opening and closing the seats randomly through out the day. I've only seen appointments up to 12/9.

Last time I schedule during an extension, I never saw an announcement. I had to call them to confirm. I schedule for 12/9 but will call tomorrow to confirm it also.

They said there were a lot of extensions in different states. For my state there were a lot of issues with computers in testing centers Oct-Nov so they extended it. They said as long as you have confirmation then you would be able to sit for the test.

Awesome! I can verify there were computer issues, it happened to me. It pushed my FAR test back a week (feeling totally prepared). I was planning to take AUD on 11/30 but when FAR got pushed back I scheduled it for Q1.

I will never follow advice from either Lilla or MLA ever again (no offence), I should have gone with my common sense. Good luck to the individuals who followed my advice, and pt33 too.

With all due respect Martin, the advice to not count on weather related extensions was valid. If weather circumstances prevented your testing then you have no reason to complain, because now you can test during the extension.

If you took your test as scheduled, then you were fine because obviously there was no weather-related closure at your center. Therefore why complain, or ask for an extension now?

If you were not sufficiently prepared and are asking for an extension, that is not a valid request for a weather-related extension and you know it.

@ Martin – So when PT33 is wrong you shouldn't follow that person's advice too ha. You're funny a guy.

I'm with Ohio. I don't know why you were banking on an extension. I'm pretty sure NASBA would address a weather issue. Take the test when you're scheduled and then proceed accordingly.

@Martin – I said repeatedly that there could be extensions (but that it isn't safe to count on it). I never said that they for sure wouldn't. At one point, even you had conceded that they wouldn't extend. From what PT333 said, only certain states were extended, so it turns out that MLA were half right both in our stating that it could happen and in our stating that it could not happen, because in some states it did and in some it didn't. But had people not taken their test on – say – 11/28 or 11/30 hoping that their state extended, and then theirs didn't, they'd either lose an NTS or be stuck waiting till Jan…whereas if they prepared and took their test 11/30, worst-case scenario was they'd find out later that their state had extended, but they'd already be free to enjoy December study-free. Not sure why you're salty, but if you don't want to listen to our advice in the future, then I'll be sure to not offer mine at any future time that you're requesting advice. Will be no trouble at all to save my time for those who will appreciate it. 🙂

I took a risk with canceling my appointment and waiting for the extension. There is no way to know for sure if there will be an extension, that is why I initially told others not to depend on it. I was ok with taking the risk for myself but I would never advice others to wait unless they don't mind risking it.

Edit: I've been lurking around this website for a while MLA and Lilla's advice is always helpful 🙂 There is no way anyone could've known what would happen.
