I have a couple of general questions in regards to applying to a big four accounting firm. I’m highly considering looking into auditing. I have the following questions/concerns:

    1) I don’t have public accounting experience, however; i did work as an assistant controller for two years. Am I at a disadvantage compared to someone who has public accounting experience? Even if its just a a measly internship? Like is my experience viewed to be irrelevant to them?

    2) When is the best time to apply (i heard the fall is usually best)?

3)Will my resume be ignored if I don’t have 150 credit for when i do one day apply? Currently, I passed the FAR section, and I anticipate to complete the remaining CPA sections before completing 150 education credits. Should i wait to complete 150 credits before applying, even though I will have passed the CPA exam?

    4) What do recruiters look for, and what could I do to gain a competitive edge over my peers?

    5) Any other relevant advice I should know about?
