Well, I decided to come back to the GYM, besides that I felt very exhausted with FAR and loosing weight, I felt sick because I stop doing exercise.
Today I came back to the gym after work and I couldnt do the regular routine I do (2 circuits in curves), I felt embarrased because a grandma was in the 3rd and was jumping like a young girl !!
For you guys that do it, how do you do? How do you organize your time?
I decided to work 3 days, go to the gym in that days and 4 days fully in AUD..
Thanks

We bought a treadmill in mid January and it's been the best purchase for our home in ages! I put on 15 pounds from 18 months of bad eating and sedentary living, so having the treadmill in the basement has been great! I'm following the “couch to 5k” running plan and it's making a huge difference. The workouts are appox. 30-35 minutes and we all can find 30 minutes IF it's important. I've lost 7 pounds already and can actually make it through the runs now without feeling like I'm going to barf! It's also nice that we don't have to get in the car and drive to the gym…no excuses when it's in the basement. Also we've had a rough winter in Michigan and I know that I wouldn't want to drive to a gym if you paid me! If you have the space and funds for a home treadmill then do it!

Do you mind telling us what particular brand/model did you just buy?

February 20, 2014 at 2:50 pm #520423Iron_VictoryMemberI'm in the Gym 6 days a week. Busy season. No study right now but 6 days of training for all my tests except the one I failed.
I go before work. I'm up at 5 am drink my protein. make my lunch for the day. watch the news a little. 6am take my supplements an leave the house at 6:15. I get to the Gym about 6:30 and do a 10 min cardio warm up then I hit the weights. I'm usually done by 7:30 – 7:45 and at work by 8. I'm fortunate to have a locker room in my building so I can shower and get cleaned up for the day.
Just get in there and keep going. So what you were spent on a little circuit? Who the heck is watching? Do what you can and keep trying to improve. Setting realistic goals for yourself is also a key component.

REG - 84February 20, 2014 at 3:05 pm #520425OtherGuyMemberWhen reading the title, I thought you meant bringing studying materials to the gym. I did that for FAR, and I think it was pretty successful. I probably should've continued it for my current test.
I would start bringing some materials to the gym again, but It's a bit late for that now. I'm taking my last exam in 7 days. Maybe if I fail, I'll know why it is! I should've been studying between sets!
Passed all sections.

February 20, 2014 at 4:26 pm #520388MintsRGoodParticipantMr. Mints & I ordered a NordicTrack C700 and took advantage of the “New Year Resolution” sales and paid approx. $710 when it was normally priced at $900. We stalked Sears’ website for the better part of 3 weeks to see what the prices would fluctuate up and down to so we could have a better idea of what a “ good deal” actually was! Mr. Mints is an engineer and does LOTS of research before he makes a large purchase. 😉 Once we saw that Sears took this treadmill to $710, we called NordicTrack and asked if they would price match Sears as we’d prefer to purchase the treadmill directly from them and not only did they agree but Mr. Mints talked them into delivering it for FREE! Mr. Mints even got the driver to help him put the box in the basement by offering a generous gratuity for his help. The box weighed 375 pounds, so it was well worth it!!!! Sears wanted to charge us $150 to deliver which was absurd, IMHO.
Things we learned in making our selection…
1. Make sure that the deck/running surface absorbs impact well! Visit Sears and get on the treadmills, jump on them (not kidding), shake it to make sure it’s sturdy, and see how your knees feel when you do so. A good treadmill will absorb the impact which minimizes the impact on your knees.
2. Don’t get sucked into “for $150 more, this model goes 15 mph and the one you want only goes to 12 mph”. Unless you are Usain Bolt, 12 mph is tremendously more speed then you will ever need. Same goes for incline stats.
3. Motor size is important. A larger motor means less struggle at higher speeds which is better for the life cycle overall. Our has a 2.75 motor and is surprisingly quiet.
4. Deck size matters. 20×60 is worth upgrading for and ensures that tall folks like myself have a long enough belt to run on!
5. Ifit is highly overrated. Ifit is the latest and greatest fitness equipment upgrade. It’s a module that lets you simulate running anywhere that google maps and will talk to an ipad and the really expensive treadmills have color displays that are all in one. The module is $100 and there is an annual subscription fee of $100. You can do virtual 5ks, you can run the exact topography of your area, trainers have workout plans you can subscribe too like Jillian Michaels, etc. It’s cool, don’t get me wrong, but we have a TV in our basement and I’d rather watch house hunters from my DVR. Also, I’d rather blow $200 on shoes. #truth
6. You can put it together yourself! If you can follow directions and have someone to help that can lift heavy things, then don’t cough up $250 for someone to assemble it in your home. It took Mr. Mints and I approx. 4 hours and one bottle of wine to assemble it. It wasn’t fun BUT I’m confident that we did a good, careful, and quality job doing it ourselves rather than someone who doesn’t give a rip and is doing it as quickly as possible.
7. Look for a good warranty. IMHO, NordicTrack had the best one compared to Proform or Sole.
8. Set a budget and stick with it. It’s easy to get sucked into the upgrades but don’t! We wanted a treadmill that wasn’t so cheap it would fall apart but didn’t want to spend much more than $750. We were firm and patient and I love our treadmill!
I hope this helps!!! 🙂
