Anyone had their Big 4 offer pulled before?

Sorry for the 10000000th crap Big 4 thread but I’m literally losing sleep over the possibility of losing my offer. Does anyone have any horror stories?

I’ve been out of college and working for a year in industry and somehow got a big 4 offer last week. I don’t start until September, but I went ahead and told my current employer because it’s a family business and in our location it may take more than a month to find a good replacement. I’ve signed my written offer and submitted my info for a background check. Can it still be pulled? I keep thinking that it was too good to be true and at some point they’re going to call me and say “Whoops…wrong person!” I’m in limbo right now. Is there a point coming soon where I’ll know I’m in the clear?

For the love of God, can someone calm my nerves?

Haha, if it makes you feel any better, I signed my full time offer with a Big 4 firm almost an entire year in advance. In Texas, they tend to make everything a year in advance.

It can happen. Hopefully you were super honest on your application. I've heard of offers being rescinded for fudging previous salary, title, etc.

I got an offer my junior year of college after interning during busy season at one of the Big 4, I just graduated in May so I've had the offer for almost a year and a half. The only reason why people get their offers pulled before they start is from getting a C in an accounting class, but since you aren't in a situation like that I think you'll be fine!

Most of the time the Big 4 will have orientation and training right when you start, so you should be getting information pretty soon about scheduling flights and booking hotel rooms since the training isn't usually at the office. I have no idea if they do that for experienced hires but since you've only been out of college for a year I would think they would still send you somewhere for training. I got an email about booking my flight and hotel for my internship training about a month and a half before I started. I would think that once you get that email your offer won't be taken away because the firm won't spend money on a flight/hotel room for someone that won't ultimately be working for them. Hope this helps!

Yeah, thanks a lot. I am an entry-level hire since I wasn't in public. I guess I'll just keep waiting and hoping for my orientation info to come along.

You are ridiculous. You are completely fine.

you are worrying too much. Even if you get a C, if you maintain the GPA that your contract says you have to maintain you will be fine (last i remember it was a 3.2). As long as you dont do something extreme like fail every course, get arrested for murder, or something else stupid you will be fine.

Tough times don't last. Tough people do.
