    Hi,

    I am curious to know whether anyone who is absolutely fresh in the job market got any help from Roberthalf? Campus recruitment did not work for me. I have no work experience and planning to apply for seasonal tax preparer position. I got advice from this forum about getting their help but I am not sure whether they are effective in getting you the very first job? Please share your experience.

    I worked with Robert Half for my job. I had a really nice recruiter who really cared. I told her about the firm I was looking at, and she got into contact with them. I got the job I wanted with a mid-sized CPA firm.

    The only downside is that – I could have simply reached out to the CPA firm I was hoping to work for. They are dying for people in the Denver area, in case anyone is looking in that area. Seems like there is a pretty good-sized shortage of accountants around here. Unemployment is very low here. We keep hiring people from out of state!

    Yackemo17, I'm about to move to Denver haha. There are ABSOLUTELY no public accounting jobs here or accounting jobs for that matter (or at least lower level jobs). People are getting turned down left and right with 4.0 GPA's; it's crazy. I've been looking for a public accounting job for over a year now, after passing both the CPA and the CFE exam; I also have near a 4.0 GPA. I know of other people in this situation as well. I ended up taking an industry job, since I haven't been able to break into public accounting, still making under 50k/year (with over 6 years experience).

    Back to the question: If you have a contact at Robert Half, it helps tremendously. With that in mind, I've gotten 1 book-keeping interview from my contact there, over the period of several years. The firm typically works better with higher level positions (at least from my experience); they get more commission from those jobs.

    B=84 This exam was such a b**** that I thought I failed-don't know how these things work
    A=76 Slacker I am, I'll happily take it
    R=81 I LOVE taxes
    F=80 I don't wanna get banned for an expletive I'm thinking with "yea" proceeding it

    Hi @John,
    I am from Chicago, so I was in the same boat as you before I moved to the Denver Area. I couldn't find anything. I sent hundreds of resumes out. Here, recruiters stalk your Linked In and offer unsolicited interviews. It's crazy how markets vary like this. I wish you luck!!

    @yackemo17 I would think about the opportunities in Denver. Here I have been trying since long in CA but finding it very difficult to get entry-level position.

    Guys thank you so much for providing your suggestions. Based on your recommendations, I am planning to continue the job search on my own for a while and as I am graduating in May and currently on my way to passing the CPA sections, I want to give myself some more time.
