When I passed the exams I already had enough experience and school credits for a license. I got my final passing score on 6/27/18. I started my application online the next day and it took 5 weeks for me to get everything submitted (experience forms, transcripts, NASBA scores, background check). NASBA was the reason it took 5 weeks. The board had to review some industry experience I used on a form, which took 3 weeks after everything was submitted. After everything was done and approved, I was told I needed another background check from a different state I worked in. That took 4 weeks – had to mail stuff to the state police and have the background check mailed back. Once I submitted that last background check to the board it was about a week before someone emailed me back saying they received it and it was submitted for review. It’s been another week since then. So I’m at 14 weeks and counting! Tell me about how long you waited!

Check out the NYS Time to process thread.
That should make you feel a little better. I waited from April 5th until August 28th, just for approval to sit. Current wait is 16-20 weeks for review and then another 2-3 to be licensed.

Anyone here from NJ???? I passed my
Last section on 9/11 and still yet to receive anything. I called my state board they told me
They received my application and my transcript from Nasba but not my scores. I am not sure when Nasba is planning on sending the scores… any idea? Some people from NY on my LinkedIn already received the letter. I m still waiting

@CPANNOYING NASBA takes 4-5 weeks to send scores. My guess you still have another 2 weeks of waiting.

I'll rant with you! Sent in my application and it was received on July 5th. After numerous phone calls NYS claimed they had everything, then a few weeks later they were missing a transcript, then they had the transcript, then it was missing again. Application finally sent to the board on September 10th. They advised an 8-16 week waiting period and then 2 weeks after to actually receive license in mail. They never answered emails, never corresponded to let me know items were missing. Every time you call there is at least a 20 minute wait on the phone. I'll be lucky if I get licensed by the end of the year at this point. Called yesterday to check the status and make sure they have accurate contact information. They reiterated the 8-16 week wait. If its sixteen weeks I will die.

I've passed all of my exams but everything else is still in progress. The 150 hour thing bugs me to death but whatever. It's expensive to get another 30 credit hours, and it takes a while. AICPA says that the 150 is designed to develop us further as professionals. SOOOO, it's the definition of CPE, but we have to have it before getting our license to start having to do CPE. Makes tons of sense

NY State – My application (Forms 1 & 4B) received on 7/5 – Application sent to the Board on 8/3 – found out yesterday (10/3) that the application has been approved and was told to wait about 3 weeks for the issuance of the license. We'll see…..

@Recked – Thanks chief! Haha enjoy your time in the “downstate”(that’s how my friend referred to NYC once he moved up to Albany). I grew up and went to college in the city (CUNY Baruch – my brother is a SUNY Albany graduate also – 1999, definitely jealous) but I’ve been in Long Island a couple of years now so going into the city has become a big thing for me too. How’s the transition into your practice going ?

An update if anyone is curious: I got a license number yesterday! so in total it took 16 weeks from the day I opened an application until I got a license number. Good luck to everyone who's waiting to be approved or still testing!
