    Since I’ve been studying for the CPA I’ve gained about 10 pounds. Anybody experiencing the same?

    Just for the record I'm a 5'11” 155lb male with an appetite that would scare you and can without doubt out eat dudes 2 times my size. I used to eat so much food growing up my parents thought I had a tapeworm because they didn't know where I was putting the weight.

    That said, it takes a lot to fill me up. Lot of food typically means a lot of calories if you're not careful. So to feed myself to satisfaction (because I cannot focus on anything let alone work related tasks being hungry/hangry) I eat nothing but lean protein, veggies, fruits, whole grains. I am extremely disciplined and realize that most people cannot stand the thought of eating the same thing every day for lunch and dinner. To a certain extent you should gain some sort of happiness from food, I get that. However you are also fueling your body and wanting it to operate at maximum efficiency. I don't think it runs well on high fatty, empty calorie foods loaded with sugar.

    I eat:

    * chicken breast/lean pork cuts/ground turkey/ 98-2 ground beef

    * broccoli (a ton) / green beans / cauliflower (can taste great if you know what you're doing) — fiber keeps me full and a ton of calcium

    * apples & pears — fiber keeps me full and satisfies my sweet tooth

    * 100% whole grain items

    * black beans/brown rice

    Again, this isn't for everyone. But I'm 27 and I'll tell you I feel like I have the energy of my 18 year old self. You have to be disciplined. Public accounting and computer sedentary jobs (which most likely we all work) do not lend themselves for a healthy lifestyle, but it's something we all can't avoid.

    Life is all about balance in everything. If you want to eat like you did in high school with the metabolism that you don't have anymore then fine, but you're going to have to find the hours and hours in the gym to work it off and to candidates taking this exam plus working trust me that time aint there.

    Now I am really hungry!

    I want some midnight snack, LOL.

    I really have no problem with my diet. I may now have gained some 10 pounds or so, but I can lose all of it in no time if I want to. But not at the moment, not yet.

    I could still wear my favorite top that I wore on my birthday in 1998 because it still fits me well.

    Some people are born with big bones, rather they eat big or small, just by the smell of food, they gain really easy.

    I've gained 15 pounds studying and had a button fly off my pants the other day, so that was great.

    I was gaining weight, but then I started a weight loss challenge with my coworkers. When there is competition, I miraculously found time to workout, eat right, and study. I ended up losing 10 pounds and won a couple hundred bucks…but I got a 74 on FAR :

    I started doing the 30 Shred (from YouTube) last night. It is a 20 minute workout with 10 minutes of warm up/cool down, so only 30 minutes. I am down 8 pounds from my highest weight that was like November/December 2014. I'd like to lose 10 pounds before my vacations coming up, especially my Mexico vacation. I'm going with my mom and she just recently got divorced and has been hitting the gym big time.

    Today I made myself a smoothie for breakfast with plan yogurt, a handful of greens, 1/4 cup of blue berries and half a banana, oh and a little OJ. For lunch I have a salad. I brought some almonds, an apple and a cutie for snacks. For dinner we are having grilled chicken legs (they were on sale) and asparagus.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
    BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
    I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

    No I actually lost about 25 pounds of baby weight while studying. Those went fast, the last 10 (15) are going really slow, with exercise, limiting calories and misery. I am gonna go back to that size 4, I swear, otherwise it's a waste of 10000 pants I already have

    I thought after studying I'd start eating better (having time to cook), but the end of studying went right into the holidays which went right into tax season.

    So much for that.

    I've been pretty bad about the fast food lately, so today I made a huge crockpot full of soup that will hopefully get me through the week. The exercise still isn't back where it needs to be, but a decent meal is better than nothing I suppose. Bringing the healthy back, a few days at a time….

    About 5 pounds 🙁

    I still make time for running 3x a week and weight training 2x a week, but where the studying really interferes is having time to cook healthy meals at home and also stress eating. We've been eating out a lot (fast food, ugh), and I've been eating too much desserts to make myself “feel better” when I'm down from so much studying.

    I gained like 5 lbs studying AUD, but I actually lost 5 lbs while I was studying for FAR and working during tax season for only 2 months. It all comes down to discipline and how badly you want to be healthy. I did not have enough time to exercise so I controlled my eating. You can do anything, it is just how badly you want it. Fighting!!!

    No need to gain wait during busy season when exercise is one of the more important things you can do to achieve success with this exam. Study hard and take necessary exercise breaks. It will help clear your mind and maintain your sanity.

    I do not, and have never bought into the notion that someone “does not have time” to exercise. There is always time for every 15-30mins to do the following: 30 seconds of pushups, 30 seconds of situps. Wake up earlier before work and go for a 20 minute jog. Go for a 20 minute jog at night before you start studying. There is always time to take care of your body.

    Sorry for the rant. One of my biggest pet peeves in this profession is people talking about still having their “busy season weight” and its almost the end of summer. That is not busy season weight hun, you are just out of shape.
