Now that I’m done with the exams and beginning the process of searching for a new job, I need to get better with Excel. I only use the basics for my current job and would like to take a course or find something that will help me get better with it. I searched some older threads and some people recommended lynda.com. I also found some courses on Udemy, but not sure which one would be best. I have some websites and youtube videos saved, but I feel like I need more structure with an actual course.

My only concern is that I have a Mac at home and the functions are different. It’s also a 2011 version. Not sure how much of a difference that makes.

I know you can sign up for free and “audit” the course, but I haven't actually tried it. It's created by PwC and seems to hit most of the major functions I use in my career as a Financial Analyst, look-ups, pivot tables, NPV, IRR etc. It might be worth a look.

Thanks I'll look into that one. I was considering the free month trial to lynda.com and checking out some of their courses.

Microsoft Office Excel 2010 (2013) comprehensive by Grauer. It is best investment I ever made when I was in grad school.
The book provides really good walk through instructions and have have good practice problems with solutions. I thought I knew how to use excel until I used this booked.
I'm in corporate accounting now and the skills I learned made a HUGE difference. It contains at least 90% of the excel related skills that you need as an accountant. ( the only thing is missing is VBA/Macros.

FAR - 11/18/15 - 74, 04/29 - 70 overworked myself to the last day and was burnt out at the exam.

@bobby- Are any of these the one you're referring to?

@professionalskeptic- Thanks for the link. Have you used the course before? Looks like it covers most of the main things we should know. My only concern is most of these courses seem to be catered to Windows versions and I'd be using a Mac.

I've found videos on youtube that were much better than Lynda (or any other formal training). I'd just start with youtube.

@mla11692- Are there any videos you recommend? I have a bunch saved on youtube and subscribe to a couple people who have a ton of videos. I feel like I need the structure of a course or I'd be all over the place watching random videos. I'd pretty much have to start with the basics and learn all the shortcuts and formatting first before getting into formulas and more complex functions.

I'd also start with YouTube. They are quick to the point when you're trying to learn ‘x' subject.
Lynda is also good though. They break down the material very well, and have courses for different learning levels. (Beg, Inter, Adv) Luckily, my alma mater and the public libraries here offer free access to Lynda.

I like to approach Excel on a ‘need to know basis'. There are SO many tools you can lean that it's difficult to absorb and keep. If you're fairly familiar with the basis I'd start off with Pivots, and move forward with formulas/formatting. I wouldn't get into it too deep because frankly you don't know what will optimize your job functions until you get there.

cpaMD86- Good call on libraries offering access to lynda.com. I checked my local one's website and I saw it in their online resources.

mla11692- I have ExcelIsFun saved and I've seen others on here recommend him. I guess I'll start there.
