Am I ever going to pass?

I have taken REG 2 times so far and AUD once.

I’m very upset over the fact that I didn’t pass my REG retake. I am supposed to be studying for BEC that I take on January 27 but looking over that material- cost accounting, operations, economics- is very discouraging

Have you passed a section yet? If not, you should stick to studying one section until you pass and then move onto others. Bouncing around to different sections would be way too much for me.

    FAR: 74 1/15/16, 72 7/2/16 -_-

    AUD: TBD

That's probably true but I scheduled BEC for end of January in hopes of passing it before the changes are made to it in April.

I am using Becker to study. Do you think I will be okay with only having a month to study for BEC. Should I just focus on doing MCQ for 4-6 hours a day?

Normally, I would disagree and try to finish REG. But I concur that you should knock out BEC out of the way first. Also, seeing your previous scores, I would start buffing up the studying for BEC. Your previous studying efforts would highlight that you need to understand the material.

I would really go over the material and make sure that you're able to apply it. Make BEC the exam that you pass on your first try! Good luck!

Read the book 4 times until you understand the theory then do MCQ. MCQ alone will not get you a pass, only a few outliers can do this. Doing the SIMS will let you know if you know the material or not.

Yes, you are going to pass! Failing sucks, but passing a section wipes all of that away! Don't get discouraged, it happens to the best of us, but you have to keep working towards the end goal. It just takes longer for some of us! Anything is possible with this exam (positive, negative, and in between)

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

I have decided that I am going to continue to focus on REG and I will be taking that January 27 instead of BEC. Any tips since it will be my third time sitting for REG.

Here's what I did (understanding everyone learns/processes differently):

    1. Did all of the Becker MCQs
    2. Did all Becker SIMs
    3. Kept notes in spreadsheets tracking how different entities worked so I could keep them straight…so I'd have a column for S-corps, C-corps, 1040s, Partnerships and for rows I'd gave capital gains – percentage, Capital gains – loss allowance, distributions, etc.

I did the same, with spreadsheets, to track differences in how expenses were handled for different entities…and which schedule was used. So misc. expenses for an individual – CHARITABLE contributions – schedule…etc.

It was a whole LOT of memorization and lots of MCQ.

The legal stuff was pretty straightforward, and mostly common sense.

Okay so going into my last test I was averaging 90-95 on my progress tests. I knew the MCQ very well, I don't want to say I just memorized them, I like to believe I knew the reasoning behind the answers. I felt very confident going into the exam, not so much coming out. I am hoping that the fact it was the 4th quarter made the exam harder than the first time, and I'm hoping the 1st quarters exam will be a little easier??

But, I definitely need a new study technique

For Becker, I suggest reading the chapter after the lecture and before the Becker MCQs. Outline the chapter as you read it, then do the questions. Forget the progressive tests, and add the NINJA MCQs for $47. Do them as a comprehensive review the last two weeks leading up to the exam. The adaptive learning in the NINJA MCQs has the absolute best cost/benefit ratio out of anything I have purchased.

    Good luck!

I can imagine how difficult it is to not have a pass under your belt yet with the change coming up. I failed 5 in a row, had to take REG 4 times before I passed. I use Roger and supplement with Wiley test bank. I believe something Roger always says in his lectures which is…”If you study, you will pass”, but you have to know HOW to study. I was at low 70's on all my failures, and got a huge score bump when I started using Wiley and really practicing the TBS questions along with reading and understanding the authoritative literature on the MCQs. Hang in there, you just have to find your grove.

    FAR - 76
    AUD - 74, 72
    REG - 62, 74, TBD
    BEC - 09/2016
