Almost Done! Next Steps (WA State)?

    Hello all,

I’m usually just a lurker here and keep posts to a minimum but I’m about to take what will hopefully be my last exam (BEC) and I have several questions I can’t find “official” answers to, and I thought I would pose them to you.

Essentially, and I’m probably getting ahead of myself, but what do I do next? Specifically, can I take the two required ethics exams before I’ve passed all four sections of the exam? If so do they expire? I will be waiting for my REG score as well so I don’t what to shoot myself in the foot if things don’t go my way… I ask because with some changes at work my goal is to be able to hit submit on the application as soon as possible.

On the topic of the application, is there an application fee? I’ve seen old posts that say anywhere from $150 to $500, but I’ve not been able to find any information of the WA Board’s site.

Anything else I should know about moving forward? I’ve been so focused on studying that I have not been able to look much into what happens next and I feel like I’m in crunch time to get everything done!

    Thanks!

Yes, you can take both of the ethics exam now if you wish. I believe they expire after a year so as long as you are fairly confident that you will pass, it shouldn't be an issue. The WA Ethics one is a little odd as you just email them and say you want to take the ethics portion. You get 3 tries and then they give you a two week time out to “study” more. At first glace it appears to be a goofy exam but actually very helpful in the long run. The questions just are tricky.

The license is $300 cash (as in no, they will not take a credit card).

You can also get your working affidavit ready too but that doesn't take very long.

Thanks for the response! Just got home from the exam and now I’m not so sure about this timeline but I’ll start getting everything ready!

I take it you’re in Washington too? How long did you have to wait for your application to be accepted?
