Hey all,

Just a question regarding the “AICPA Released Questions”, specifically the ones available through NINJA. For anyone who has seen or reviewed them, are the ones labeled as “difficult” actually representative of what is considered “difficult” by the test standards? I am studying Audit in particular so if anyone can shed light on that, but just in general also if possible, thank you.

@SB I don't know the answer to your question, but I would take anything that is labeled with a grain of salt. Like most things with the CPA it's all relative. What's difficult to me or you may be easy to others and vice versa.

I took Audit in Q3 and thought the MCQ's in particular were very very fair and similar to what I saw on Wiley (and I'm sure NINJA too). The simulations were definitely more of a random nature and knowledge of FAR will help you (I see you've already passed, so that's a good sign).

They're not “medium” or “difficult” questions — they're questions released from testlets labeled medium or difficult.

From the AICPA:
All testlets have questions ranging in difficulty. Questions in difficult testlets just have a higher average level of difficulty than those in medium testlets.

I'm reviewing the 2017 AICPA FAR released questions now.
Performance is much lower on the ones in the difficult section vs the medium section.

@ CoachEmUp, thank you for sharing your experience, and yes, I wanted to get FAR out of the way due to the amount of material and because I kept reading that it was relatable to Audit (which I can see and am grateful that I have those concepts under my belt). Best of luck on BEC!

@ PMS2 – Thanks for the description, most appreciated. That's what I was referring to but my choice of wording was poor, as in I meant to ask if those released questions are actually from the testlets labeled as “difficult”, thank you for clarifying.

@ ReckedRacing I think I felt the same way for FAR when I was reviewing the AICPA released questions, but felt pretty good on exam day.
