Advice on when to leave job

So some background. I recently got divorced and moved back in with my parents… Yaay! I have two parts (FAR and REG) passed and Aud scheduled for Nov 30 and BEC will be end of Feb which is when FAR expires.

My current job is a staff accountant at a small company. I don’t even make $40k a year and I am obviously wanting to move out and I am hoping to buy or rent a house as I have a rowdy German Shepherd that I LOVE! I work under a CPA for just over a year and she has already agreed to sign off on my license when I pass.

I have been looking for jobs pretty much since I settled down at my folks’s but I have had no bites which isn’t too discouraging to me because some aren’t exactly the type of accounting I’d enjoy… But I am wondering if I should call it quits. Pass my exams, get that signature, and THEN look. I don’t pay rent. I am just focusing on my current debt and I am doing fine. I am waiting to hear back on two jobs that I interviewed for which I am quite excited about.

Just wanted some unbiased third party advice! Thanks in advance!

I'd stay where you're at for now. Your supervisor said she'd sign off when you pass. I definitely wouldn't jump ship without having something else lined up.

    CPA, CFE
CISA- Experience will be completed by August 2016

It wouldn't surprise me if it took close to a year for you to finally land a job. That is how long it took me and I have read numerous other similar accounts on here.

I don't think it is a bad idea to stay until you are done with the exams, especially since FAR is going to expire if you don't pass. Passing would be my priority.

I'm definitely asking if there is a CPA above me before I go into an interview as I have a recruiter so he can ask.

I wonder why its taking up to a year but I don't feel so bad about not getting an offer yet. My first priority is my exam but the interviewing is definitely taking my mind off studying which is why I'm questioning if I should just put it on hold. I guess if it will take a year it doesn't hurt to keep trying!
