    hello everyone!

i am currently enrolled in the UCLA acconting certificate program and almost odne with it with only two courses left. i wanted to get the CPA and ultimately the CMA license.Anyhow i do qualify to sit for the CPA exam. i got myself registered last december in hopes to get it done before the changes take place unfortunately some things came up and literally my year was wasted. Also i had my third baby a month back :). With that im contemplating if i should start preparing for the cpa but will have to give the exam when the changes take place this april or should I wait till we all get the hang of the new changes I just dont want to experiment with all the changes taking place and get the two accounting courses out of my way so i have the certificate in hand and go for the CMA first.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated
    thanks

Anyhow i do qualify to sit for the CPA exam – google how to become a CPA in California

With that im contemplating if i should start preparing for the cpa but will have to give the exam when the changes take place this april – you have to show that you have 1 year experience and have COMPLETED ALL OF YOUR REQUIRED ACCOUNTING COURSES BEFORE YOU SIT FOR IT so in your case if you have two courses still pending you cannot qualify to sit and also i am not sure if you can show your 1 year experience. I dont think you can sit in April because you wont qualify.

or should I wait till we all get the hang of the new changes I just dont want to experiment with all the changes taking place and get the two accounting courses out of my way so i have the certificate in hand and go for the CMA first. – CMA or CPA? CMA is not easy..i have a guy here who has been trying to do it for 6 years. CPA is accounting heavy and CMA is Finance heavy so you have to be able to think two different ways.

@Aspencookie i think you didnt understand my question. i do not need to google how to qualify for the cpa exam since I already qualify for that!! i have mentioned that i registered myself but wasnt able to prepare for the exam.
I enrolled into the UCLA program since I had some acocunting courses to get done with in order to qualify for the exam which I have completed already!
thirdly, if you have a CPA and CMA both it is ideal! deifinitely it all depends on person to person and the way you prepare in passing these exams.
Im sorry but your answer was very offensive.

    thanks anyway!

@red07. Start studying in May or June and take your first exam in July/August. Testers in April/May won't get scores until August due to the exam changes. That's a long wait time for your first exam score.

Hmm, I'm confused. Are you qualified to SIT already and you have an NTS to schedule your exams? If so, and you have only ONE section on that NTS, I would WAIT after the 10 week wait (so roughly in the summer), AND THEN schedule your exam. Because the new format will still be highly experimental.

BUT if you're NOT qualified to sit, and you still need to courses to qualify, then why worry right now? Finish those classes and anticipate the new version when you study for it.
