He plays opera music all day and I find myself yawning a thousand times a day. Any advice on staying awake without confronting said coworker?

I already drink coffee and a daily espresso shot. What else do you got for me.

Play death metal all day at an equally loud volume.

shouldn't you coworker have headphones on? That's rude I would kindly say it's distracting to please turn it down or use headphones.

Or consider this an opportunity to delve into the opera community and learn the different kinds/eras/artists and become a guru!

Get your own headphones and play what you want to stay awake. People usually do what they are allowed to do….Stop letting the co-workers put you to sleep with opera music. Jazz it up play your own music, under your headphones of course because then they will feel you are inconsiderate of the office space.

    1. Ask The Force what lesson you're being taught by that kind of distraction ( or destruction).
    2. Sabotage his radio/cd player/speaker
    3. Start humming to the tunes and tell him/her you can't control your OCD
    4. If all else fails, get giant ear muffs that say, “Bleeding Ears”

I don't mind classical music (I use it sometimes to study) but there are some times when I just cannot concentrate with any type of music. So, what I would recommend is to ask politely to your coworker to please turn down the music OR you could listen to your own music with your earphones. If it gets too crazy and your coworker won't lower the music, then I guess you could talk to your boss or someone high above to come up with a solution.

Check the thermostat at work, no joke. If your office is above 70 degrees that may explain your sleepiness. As soon as I turned down the heat, I was much more awake.
