For you who have passed does anyone else suffer like me from staying off A71? I still get on daily just trying to find excuses to post. I’m that clingy BF that just can’t let go and accept that its over! My wife even said after I passed “the best part in you passing is not having to see Another 71 notifications going off on your phone all the time”. The addiction is real.

I always get really addicted to replying and posting right before and after my exams. Then I go into hibernation mode while I study lol

haha I like that one @nath! I try to help where I can, but after you pass retaining what you have learned isn't high on your priority list! However, I can give pointer from a higher level like study and exam approach, study material, etc.

I've passed, I still get on to help the fellow bean counters.

I passed over 6 months ago and I'm still on here almost every day. It makes for a nice break at work. I also try to bring a bit more optimism to the party since there seems to be quite a few here talking negatively about public accounting. I worked my @$$ off to get the job I have, and I'm going to enjoy it.

@rtalfson yeah naturally people are negative throughout their study process, and yes public is also a hot topic that is viewed negatively. I've never worked public but deal with auditors often…I know the crazy hours they put in, it just wasn't for me. But I respect people that will put in those type of hours for their career. When they finally do go private and most likely will land a great job because of their public experience their 40-50 hour weeks will seem like a part time job! haha

I'm usually on here a lot more than I have been the last 2 months (freakin tax season) but I finished the exams in Aug 2016 and still love to come on here to throw my input around, provide guidance/advice where I can, and sometimes stir sh*t up a little bit! This is a great forum for CPA candidates as well as current or inactive CPAs. There are plenty of threads on here that I have found useful towards my career, not just for studying for the exam! Its a great resource with some intelligent and credible folks on here, I'm a big A71 fan and have recommended it to other candidates I've met.

Yeah, I passed my last exam almost 3 months ago but I'm still waiting for my license, so I'll definitely post my progress on that once it happens. But hell, I think I reiterate everyone's concern when I say that the CBA needs MORE staffing. I have called them and they have been very good at replying by email or phone. Within the month of December alone, they had a 1000 applications for those who were looking to avoid the ethics requirement. The feeling of passing your exam feels so much more anti-climatic when you KNOW you're not licensed yet.

Good to know there's still a community of us! As crazy as this sounds part of me misses the grueling study process. That's not to say I would want to do it again but looking back it was quite the ride!

I'm a veteran of only 2 weeks, but I get on several times a day! Love staying updated. I'll be interested to see how people are reacting to the new exam format.

IMO I like to see veterans answering posts on study tactics and review materials. I kinda shy away from the forum when the forum becomes a belittling rant of some calling others liars or questioning their intentions for taking the test. Sometimes tough love is good, but sometimes its unnecessary. But when some of the veterans respond with good advice it make the challenge of the exam a little easier. I know, I know, If I don't like it get off or don't read it…..but veterans please stick around your encouragement is necessary.

@dtatham10 I hear you on missing the challenge. I started a personal finance blog website in my downtime to document our journey of paying off debt and living on a budget. even working 12-hour days during tax season, I still feel like I could do more! It's nice to have a community here that understands the challenges and joys of working in this industry so I don't have to watch my gf's eyes glaze over whenever I talk about work at home. 😛

@rtalf yeah I gave up trying to talk to my wife about my job or exam experience. I am not like a lot of people on this site, I don't work with a ton of CPA's, in fact there is only 1 other CPA in our company. Anytime I cross paths with someone studying for the CPA or who just recently finished their CPA I tend to latch onto them and ask a million questions about their experience lol. It's one of those things where only we understand and can relate so when I get an opportunity to talk about it I don't let that opportunity pass by.
