So i am currently a accounting major student , upon entering one of my classes today one of my professor tells the class that the NY state will deny you a cpa license if you have been caught cheating in the past and it is posted on your record.
When i was taking a history class in the past during sophomore year of college i was told i had plagiarized on my essay and received a F for the essay. I however passed the class and received a D. I do remember speaking with the Dean and admitted to plagiarism and do not remember if it was on my record or not. I will be asking my advisory to see if they can help me view my transcript/record to see if it is on there, but for now i was curious can plagiarism affect license.
Is this an automatic no for cpa license if it is indeed still on my record?

At my uni, it only goes on your record if you FAIL the class for cheating. If you still passed the class it may not be on your record but it's likely that it will be…

Usually cheating or plagiarism is grounds for expulsion from the institution.
Instead of blowing a bunch of smoke and making a big deal out of something that might not be a big deal, why don't you do a transcript request.
The transcript you receive will presumably be the same transcript that the NASBA and NYS will receive when you apply for the CPA exam and license.
My point being, if its not already placed on your permanent record, don't keep bringing it up to different people that might feel obligated to add it to your record.
