I scored a 68 and 74 and took it for the 3rd time today. I left completely deflated and unbelievably frustrated again. I’ve been using Roger and this time I supplemented with Ninja. I was trending in the mid 80s on mcq, and worked tons of sims in both Roger and Ninja. I also took advantage of the AICPA practice exam as well. My frustration is not with the MCQ, but with the Sims. I feel I did well on MCQ, just like I did when I received my 74 last window.

My issues are with the sims – I feel like the review courses do not prepare you well for the sims with respect to the DRS and the sims that require actual journal entries. Twice now I have received sims that I felt were closer to FAR sims than related to AUD materials. I feel like I got 50% on the sims, it’s just incredibly discouraging.

I’m scared I’ll never be able to pass AUD and FAR. I need some encouragement or at least confirmation that I’m not the only one feeling this way.

I felt the way you did when I took FAR, and I passed. As for AUD, I understand how you feel because I took it last week and I’m unsure as to how I did for SIMs. The SIMs on the actual exam are crapshoot so you just have to wait until the score release and find out how you did. Nevertheless, you’re not alone in this if that makes you feel better.

The Aud sims are by far the most difficult IMO because they are often subjective. This may sound like crap advice but if and when you have to retake again just try to think as logically as possible. Ask yourself, what makes the most sense here? When I took Aud I felt like I bombed the sims but just told myself to pick the answers that just made the most logical sense. Put yourself in the shoes of the auditor. Again, I realize this is incredibly broad advice but it is what helped me get through the Sims. I do however know that I crushed the mcqs on the exam so I didnt need to do as well on the sims. Best of luck on your score release

Sounds similar to me – I was trending at 87 for AUD and barely passed with a 76. You'll get it at some point.

You obviously know the material but unfortunately the SIMS absolutely blow. I felt like I slayed the MCQ but did horrible on the SIMS. I honestly felt like I got less than half the boxes correct.

I felt that way last time I got a 74. Felt like I crushed the MCQ and sims that I got like 50% right. I feel like I performed exactly the same this time around, so I’m expecting to fail. I know it’s not that simple, but the section is proving to be my nemesis. It’s honestly making me doubt if I can finish this process.

try Gleim. their sims are nice for AUD. I had a similar exp to skolvikes. I was trending in the high 80s and barely passed too. My sims were a nightmare on the exam too. Make sure you guys remember stuff from FAR too.

I take far next month. I guess that’s what is so frustrating, those SIMS im just not prepared for because I have studied that material in depth.

The FAR sims were actually not that bad on my AUD exam. It's the asinine theory of auditing ones that throw me off

AUD exam takers, pay attention to details ie read the answer explanations for the wrong answers on the mcq and sims on your prep software. Definitely try the free resources on Youtube and also other cpa prep courses outside the usual ones.

@skolvike – how is the reg prep ? You ready for the exam ? when you taking it?

@auditsucks It's going pretty well. Honestly the MCQ's should be a breeze and I have been trying to hit 100 per day on NINJA. I'll be ready when I take it next Friday (May 11th). Not quite ready yet though. The idea of brutal SIMS freaks me out a bit. Have you passed REG?

@akolvies – I have passed all the exams and I got either an 84 or 85 or Reg. I really thought I would get a 95 or more. I am trying to get into Public Accounting atm. I cannot get anyone to sign me off. Kind of a wack situation but I am happy about passing.
