5 Days out…

So guys/gals I’m going to sit for FAR next Friday. I’m well unprepared as I’ve been using the Becker program (which is ruthless) and I’m only halfway through it right now. I’m not going to reschedule because it’s already paid for and at least I’ll get a taste for how the exams look and feel. I know it will be a miracle from God if I pass but…I’m going to try it anyway. So with that being said does anyone have a kind of study tips for the last week? Obviously I’m not going to make it through the material so I’m wondering should I just read the book or do the progress tests or other???

I’m not usually like this as I did great in college, and I’ve said this before, but I just underestimated the difficulty of this material. My wife and I both work full time and I have a 4 year old at home as well. If the firm I work for didn’t pay for everything I’m not sure I would even continue on the CPA journey but I’m already into now. 🙁

    Any advice?

I'd crank out as many mcq as possible.

That said, buckle down. It's hard with a family, I did it with a full time job and 2 kids. Don't waste time you could be spending with your bride and son if you're not driven to get this done. Better your child misses out on time with you for a year while you get this done than several years of stops and starts. Value their sacrifice enough to pass the exams.

If you are using the Becker FAR book, I would suggest knowing F7-F9- so I would try to read through those at least once.

    AUD- 99
    FAR- 93
    BEC- 90
    REG- 94

That's kinda what I figured. I'll run through the mcq's from the progress test at the end of the entire review until Friday. Sacrifice is the word here for sure. I'm just over school in general. I'm 34 but have been in school at some college level since 2006. I'm gonna buckle down and do it, but by God it better pay off! I'm not even going to stay in public accounting like I'm in now.

I guess I'm tired and needed to vent…

I hear ya. I started college in 2003 when my kids were 10 and 4, and my husband had just moved out. Went to school while working full time and raising my kids. Finished my undergrad in 2008 and started grad school in 2009. Did the cpa exams from oct 10-oct 11, finished grad school dec 11 and got licensed in March 12. It wasn't easy, but worth it.
