    I know this sounds reckless

but I got an offer from big4 starting January so since I have passed FAR I’m hoping to finish something before my start date.

I thought it would be better to leave ‘easier’ section later (pass these while working full-time) and finish remaining ‘hard’ section before my start date.

I’m currently working part-time so I have calculated that I could make up 150-180 (max 200) study hours if I stay very diligent (hopefully).

I only have individual tax knowledge from school (no corporate at all and b-law super long time).

Just want to hear any comments on my plan from beloved A71 members. Thanks!

    definitely doable!

i scheduled REG for january 31st. and i am not starting to study til' after the holidays. 200hrs is a bit extreme- anything more than 100 is overkill for me and causes eroding effectiveness. i want to stress that that is for me, and YMMV

eesti, that is admirable if you can only spend 100 hours to pass. for me, it was more than 150 hours per each exam. BEC was the least i spent b/c i passed it on the first try.

each section differs but i'd say you can knock out either Audit or BEC. maybe Audit will come easier after some experience at your firm so BEC might be your best shot?

    FAR-71,71,79
    BEC-80
    REG-72,77

FAR/BEC/AUD: Becker & Yaeger lectures (Wiley & Ninja MCQs). REG: Becker lectures (Ninja MCQs).

If I were you, I'd schedule an easier part to knock out before you start your job. BEC is definitely doable in 4 weeks (I did it in 4, but i really didn't get in a good study pattern until week 2 or 3). I knocked out REG over 10 weeks, and hard core study time was probably about 60-70 hrs BUT I have my MACC in Tax and have worked in corporate tax for 8 years. So, is it doable in 4 weeks? Yes..but I think you also need some time to relax before your job. You could knock out BEC and go into your new job refreshed and ready to be worked to death.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

It took me 150-180 plus 2 attempts to pass REG… it was a beast….but it might be a good plan to immerse yourself fully. I was working full time and studied for months, so when I got close to exam day the first things I studied were hard to remember. .

    REG -73 (8/2015) 81 (10/2015)
    AUD - 73 (11/2015) 84 (1/2016)
    BEC - 84 (2/2016)
    FAR - 77 (6/2016)
