10 weeks for FAR?

Starting today is it reasonable to take FAR on 8/11?

Also, has anyone tried studing FAR chapters out of order. In the past, I would spend so much time on Framework and Financial Statemetns, I’d never get to Goverment, NFP, and IFRS. Is it a good idea to look at those three first and then jump into other FAR topics?

@goalset I had about 5 weeks to study for FAR while working full time and could of used more time but was more or less ready. That being said I pushed myself like crazy due to the short timeline. 10 weeks should be enough

10 weeks is too long – limit to 8 weeks at the most

    FAR: 63, 55, 62
    REG: 65, 77*
    AUD: Fail, 64, 71
    BEC: 72, 74, 81

Right now, I have 8 weeks set for myself. I am in my 3rd week and currently on F4 of Becker. I definitely think 10 weeks is plenty.

Most people I know that completed the exam successfully stuck to the traditional order because the concepts mostly build on each other. Don't keep spinning your wheels in one chapter if it is just not clicking. Move on, you can always go back if you have time. If you don't, at least you have seen the material once and something may pull through for you on the exam.

    BEC - 82! 11/15; (74) 8/15

I'm concerned shortening the time from 10 weeks to 9 or 8. This is not my first battle with these exams and I've never passed them before. I'm hoping this time is a charm, but I'm concerned about the timing.

I guess I'll start studding and go from there. Need to get my NTS though. Wish me luck

When you start spending more than 8 weeks then you start forget the stuff you studied in the beginning

I heard on one of the review videos 3 months for far. I cannot imagine that much time. It was annoying listening to them one week. But to answer the question…..8 weeks is enough if using the time efficiently. I would be afraid of losing momentum or even interest after 8 weeks.

I spent 14 weeks and it was way too long. To snowball off Golfball…I started forgetting everything I started at the begginning…and think I would have done exactly the same had I crammed it in 8 weeks.

I did in 10 weeks while working full time and it worked great. I was ready to take the exam a week earlier but going in I was happy I had the extra review time. I think the most important thing is that you give yourself enough time to have a good overall review. Doing progress tests after a couple chapters to keep things fresh is also very beneficial.

How does everyone do it so fast

3 out of 4 passed and sitting for FAR on May 31. Will lose credit for Audit if I don't pass FAR by Aug 4. I love leases and bonds.

8-10 weeks isn't really all that fast. I mean, with an 8 week timeline you could do 2 chapters a week and still have two-three weeks left for review depending on your schedule. I'm learning fast it is all about discipline and time management.

I think the timing is really a personalized thing. Some people can get through all the material in 6-8 weeks with FAR and pass while others need a couple more weeks. I wouldn't take 5 months (like I did and still failed) but anything less than 12 weeks for FAR is ok. The trick is to constantly do cumulative MCQ sessions to not forget the concepts and constantly review your notes. There are some topics like bonds, pensions, S/E, non monetary exchanges take a little longer for people to master so you may want to take that extra time to really learn the concepts. Just my two cents but it worked for me. 🙂

It's going to vary for each person. You need to find a sweet spot between not being ready and taking too long that you're forgetting stuff.

When I took FAR I started at the beginning of July and took at the end of August. That was 9 weeks for me studying 6+ hours a day since I wasn't working at the time. If you're working full time, it might take you 9 weeks just to get through the material. You would still want a couple of weeks to master and review material. You can't wait too long because there is too much information and you'll start to forget details. But do you really want to take it before you're ready and not be prepared? If so I'll give you my PayPal info and you can just send me $200 and save yourself the pain of studying and failing.
