Why is the Business Law (REG ) so big?

I noticed that Business Law is only 20% of REG’s score, but is 50% of the Ninja REG textbook. Why is that? Is the Business Law portion that wide, or did the author just do a phenomenal job of being concise with the other portions?

    BEC - 87 | 02/28
    REG - 70 | 06/10, REMATCH | 08/30
    AUD - XX | 09/10
    FAR - XX | 12/10

Blaw is also 50% of Becker. When it comes to possible material vs what you actually get tested on, REG is the most ridiculous.

    FAR 57 (11/2014), 64 (1/2015), 79 (7/2015)
    AUD 68 (2/2015), 79 (11/2015)
    REG 79 (1/2016)
    BEC 81 (4/2016)

Roger's book was about a 1/3 BLAW. Considering it's about 20% of the exam, that seems more appropriate. I don't think it's fair for them to include BLAW in REG – they should include it with BEC. REG is already a beast in itself because of the tax rules – I feel like it's overwhelming for many people to have to study tax and law at the same time.

    BEC - 88 8/29/15
    REG - 82 11/14/15
    AUD - 83 1/8/16
    FAR - 80 2/29/16

I just heard Roger say Business Law used to be its own 3.5 hour exam back in the day. I guess the sheer amount of material is a relic from those days. And it eventually somehow got stuffed with tax.

    BEC - 78 (August 2015)
    FAR - 80 (November 2015)
AUD - 73, 67. (Ok I gotta confess I was even more lazy this time around)
    REG - August 27th, 2016

Business Law might make up a smaller percentage of the overall exam but you should still expect it to be heavily tested in the MCQ portion of the REG exam. I don't think I've heard of anyone, ever, having a Business Law Simulation on the exam so the 20% of BLaw and 20% of Ethics are all in the MCQ. So it's possible to see more BLaw and Ethics questions in the MCQ portions of the exam because the simulations will be, entirely, from taxation.

My point is don't let the percentages fool you. If you don't know BLaw and Ethics than you are really going to struggle with the MCQ portion of the exam.

great point OP. that always puzzled me. proportionality rules would govern that you should devote 4 times as much studying for tax as you do for biz law. ask yourself: is the minutiae contained in these pages going to cost me more than 2-3 points on the exam? then move on to something more important like tax.
