Why is REG a shorter exam?

with 24 MCQs each each testlest and only 6 SIMS, what’s the reasoning behind it? For those who have taken REG and FAR, is the timing different? I’ll take REG in 6 weeks and I’d almost rather have the extra 18 MCQs and 1 SIM to get an additional hour.

I haven't got the slightest clue as to what the reasoning is for the shorter exam for REG. If it were up to me, AUD would be 3 hours and REG would be 4 just because there are more calculation-based and time consuming questions on REG.

In my case, 3 hours was still plenty to finish the exam. I completed REG in about 2 hours and FAR in 2:15, so the timing was only slightly different, it you're talking about amount of time spent per question.

I'm sure that you'll be fine!

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)
    REG 83 (11/26/11)

FAR is long because a lot of questions require a lot of extensive calculations. AUD is long because the questions require a lot of analysis. Misreading one word can throw you off and make you pick the wrong answer. So, trust me when I say that 4 hours is just enough time for AUD. If you finished AUD in a short amount of time, then chances are you made some careless errors even though you passed.

Now REG is short because the questions don't take a lot of time to solve. You either know it or you don't. The calculation questions are only simple additions and subtractions. It WHAT you add and subtract that is the hard part. But if you know your stuff well, I can see some people finishing in less than 3 hours.

    Couldn't agree more, well said.

    BEC - 80 (11/30/2010), Lost Credit - Retake 11/30/2012, 80 (FINISHED!)
    AUD - 71 (05/31/2011), 79 (08/28/2011)
    REG - 70 (11/30/2011), 87 (02/09/2012)
    FAR - 61 (5/31/2012), 80 (08/31/2012)
