I am taking REG on thursday and I decided to look for new unseen questions. So I am doing some questions on CPA review for free. I’m not sure how I feel about their questions. Does anyone know if they use prior exam questions? Some of them seem pretty random or at least to me stuff that Becker barely even touched on. Very theoretical too. Should I keep trying to learn this or go back to Becker questions/Final exams?

I'm going to be honest. When I used that site for AUD, I also did pretty badly. I stopped using it at that time after only using it twice because it was really killing my confidence. I continued with Gleim and Wiley and did well on the actual exam.

Some people have stated in other threads that they find CPA Review for Free easier than the actual exam. I'm wondering why people think that. I find their questions to be a bit odd and I think a lot of their questions are beyond the scope of the CPA exam. That's what I think.

I agree with you. I think the questions are hard. I do use it, just to get me prepared for those “out of left field” kind of questions. For the most part I use Wiley, and Becker. I used Gleim for BEC (free trial) and I really liked it. I think that was what got me to pass. I was scoring in the 80-90 range in Becker and felt that it was a “false Positive”, I think I was memorizing the questions without really knowing, I used Gleim in the final review and passed. I thought they did a great job with corporate governance. Truth is, I would have used their testbank for Audit and REG but I have a Mac, and their software is not compatible with a mac, other than the free trial. I was disappointed. But I have really enjoyed Roger!

Best of luck to you on Friday–I am hoping you do really well, you have worked hard!

I have passed REG, FAR and BEC; I am still waiting for my score for AUD. I think either Wiley or Becker's study softwares are good. Make sure you understand the questions well first and then use CPA Review for Free if you have time left. This is just my personal experience.

Here are the practice sets I did today….

    1) 20 Questions on CPA Review For Free- scored 60%

    2) 20 Questions on CPA Review For Free- scored 50%

    3) 30 Questions on Gleim- scored 60%

    4) 30 Questions on Gleim- scored 83%

All these questions were fresh questions I never seen before, so I wasn't cheating. Now, as you can see, my results are all over the place. They range from a 50% to 83%. Yeah, my life is messed up!! I think it's because CPA Review For Free bummed me out, so when I did my first set on Gleim, my lack of confidence killed me. But once I got back in the game, I was on fire. Hence the jump to 83%. So yeah, confidence is an important thing to have in order to pass this beast.

It's a slow day at work today, so I decided to do a set of questions on CPA Review For Free and passed with exactly a 75 (15 our of 20 correct). I would've gotten an 85, but I made such careless errors, one of which was due to the fact that I miscalculated in my head rather than using a calculator. *slaps self*

Getting better at this!! I can do this!
