What do you think about CPA review for free questions?

I am taking REG on thursday and I decided to look for new unseen questions. So I am doing some questions on CPA review for free. I’m not sure how I feel about their questions. Does anyone know if they use prior exam questions? Some of them seem pretty random or at least to me stuff that Becker barely even touched on. Very theoretical too. Should I keep trying to learn this or go back to Becker questions/Final exams?

I was in the same situation with REG and used CPAreviewforfree.com during the final review. The questions are more advanced then actually on the exam. In my opinion, I would be surprised if the questions were from prior exams.

I would recommend continuing to use the website as a supplement unless its throwing you off. I got to a point with the site where it effected my confidence so I ended it.

    Good luck!

Soonerorlater, I got a similar score to yours (72) on reg last i took, but i had mostly watched the videos and not done the practice questions, I'm definitely doing them this time, is there any tips you can give me to that might help put me over the top? I'm a cruncher so I've got 4 days and 3 chapters of homework left still but I'll get through it once.

I always try to use cpareviewforfree in some form while in the review stage. I have found them to be tougher than exam, but I still think there is value in using them.

    Best of luck with REG!!

I agree cpareviewfor free seem tougher than the study material I am using, bu they are a good supplement considering it's 20 bucks for he whole thing. It cant hurt, although a few are outdated in the tax section. The B-law stuff is pretty good.

Thanks everyone! I actually am glad to hear they are tougher than the exam bc I was doing decently towards the end of last night =) so now instead of a confidence crusher its become a confidence booster haha

Now I just have to make sure I take the confidence into the exam and do not over think every question, especially the easy ones.

    Good Luck to everyone!!

In my opinion cpareviewfor free is waste of time and destroys your confidence. Many others veterans on this forum will agree.

For the heck of it, I took a 20 question REG exam yesterday morning on that site and got 14/20 (70%) and I felt like jumping out of the window. It is such a relief to hear people on here say that they're actually tougher than the real thing. It gives me some confidence that I may have a chance of passing the real exam.

With these questions and the Gleim software questions, I'm really starting to feel bummed. These practice questions are great to practice with in order to grasp the concept, but seriously, they really can kill one's confidence.

And BTW, I could've easily scored a 17/20 on that practice set, but I made such careless errors such as not reading the question carefully and not watching my dates. When am I going to learn?? Ugh!!!

Appears not too much time left. I wrote then rewrote my notes, then randomly did blocks of mcq.

I think I had a goal of 400 mcq a day. Radomly challenging my retention.

Best of luck! I'll keep checking in to see if I can help…your on your way to a CPA!

I can't speak for REG, but I passed AUD using CPAReviewForFree exclusively. That's pretty good, considering it's free.

BEC was a slightly different story. I'm still waiting on my score, but I used CPAReviewForFree, and then Wiley, and I felt like Wiley was closer to the mark on a lot of the questions and topics.

I think it's a good supplement, overall. I plan to use it during my REG & FAR studies for sure.

I can only speak for myself, but I loved using CPA Review for Free for review at the end of my study cycle, focusing on one topic at a time. It seemed that there was one clear question for every important concept, with a good, concise explanation of the answer. (Minor point, but I also liked being congratulated by the program every time I got one right.) One caveat: some of the MCQs were obviously out of date. Ignore those.

I went four for four on the exam sections, and I never took one practice test from any study materials. Getting wrong answers did nothing to reinforce correct understanding, for me. Instead, I did my best to answer the MCQ correctly, looking at my materials (cheating) if I had to (first my notes and if that didn't do, the Wiley book or IRS site or whatever), then understanding why all the wrong answers were wrong, then even trying to rephrase the MCQ multiple ways so that each wrong answer would be right.

Keep in mind that CPA Review Courses use actual past CPA Exam questions (licensed from the AICPA). These questions are not licensed from the AICPA.

Gleim also uses questions from past CPA exams, but then again, they also use their own Publisher adapted questions that are ridiculously hard and would make you want to jump out a window, lol.

Yeah..I'm studying for REG again. I used GLEIM the first time and found the “publisher” questions ridiculous! I'm using wiley this time around and find the MCQ very similar to the actual exam. The sims killed me! im still trying to find a way to prepare myself for those again…ugh

I'm at the point where I'm doing rather ok on the Gleim software. I'm constantly practicing with new questions so I don't subconsciously memorize answer. I've gotten used to their Publisher adapted questions and I was feeling rather confident that I'm going to do just fine on Friday when I take the test. Then I decided to do a mix of 20 questions on CPA Review For Free. It wasn't good. Some of the questions are worded very poorly, introduces obscure nitpicky details that even Gleim doesn't get into and contains some real nasty tricks. Yup, I'm screwed!!! After all this additional studying I've been doing, I'm going to fail again. I would like to thank that site for destroying my confidence. Sigh!!!

nip it in the bud! take a tip from your friend Minimorty–which I have been really trying to enforce with myself–have confidence. Don't even say/type that four letter word again. get it out of your head. Here is a quote from one of the first motivational speakers, Earl Nightingale, ‘We become what we think about.'

You are going to kill REG!!!!!!
