WHAT?!?!?! Another REG Exam Crash

    If you’ll recall I took my REG exam on 7/19 and it crashed right before the simulations loaded. Thankfully, my NTS was reinstated and I was scheduled to take REG again this morning. Unfortunately for me it was the same story different day. My exam crashed again right before the simulations loaded. I had my fingers crossed and everything!! It’s that 15 second delay between when you continue to testlet four and when testlet four actually loads. An error message comes up to the effect of connection error with all sorts of path information.

    I’m pretty sure this is what it feels like to go crazy!!

    I spent an hour and forty five minutes on hold with prometrics just so they could give me the same lame bs as last time. “Blah, blah, blah, I’m sorry, blah, blah, blah, I completely understand, blah, blah, blah we’ll get back to you within 24-48 hours”. To say this company’s lacking in customer service is a serious understatement. I’m pretty sure I sat on hold while all the customer service people at prometrics went out to lunch.

    It’s my own fault, though, I knew I shouldn’t have booked the retake at the same location. I just knew it!

    AUD: 89 2/22/11
    FAR: 78 5/17/11

    DONE!!!!

    A self-fulfilling prophecy is a prediction that directly or indirectly causes itself to become true, by the very terms of the prophecy itself, due to positive feedback between belief and behavior.

    Wow, 2 times in a row? That is crazy!

    I took my first exam yesterday (FAR) and I noticed that the computers all looked old and outdated. There is a delay to get to the SIMS. It was also a pain just going from SIM to SIM because of the delay, and sometimes it looked like the page didn't wanna load. You would think they'd have better technology in 2011.

    AGH!!! I'm very sorry to hear about your terrible luck with these stupid exams. I just walked out of FAR. At the very end of my test, after I hit “end”, instead of going back to the white square that says Prometric, my screen went completely white. When I walked out, the woman said it was at the wrong screen, and rebooted it. She then told me I was all set, and I asked for my confirmation of attendance. She wouldn't give it to me (she said we don't get one), so I had to wait for someone else to come over and print it out. However, when I left, I noticed on the screen next to my name it said “Service Incomplete”, whereas next to everyone else's who had already left it said “Service Completed”. This is totally freaking me out!!!!!!! I just emailed NASBA to report it, but I'm wondering if there's any quicker way I can figure out if my test exists where it needs to exist, or whether it's gone, or what! Can anyone offer me any advice????

    What about calling the testing center you were just at and asking for them to confirm your test has been submitted properly?

    Sorry everyone is having such terrible luck! I feel really lucky that the center I use seems to be very organized and I haven't had any problems (yet, knock on wood…).

    I am finally DONE!

    Before I left, I said, “So why does it say incomplete next to my name? Is everything okay?” She said “It's probably just because it went to the blank screen when you were done,” and then disappeared into the abyss that is the silent testing room. Gee, thanks for enlightening me, lady. I just called Prometric, and they said there is no way to verify on their end, and that I should contact NASBA. Of course it's pretty much impossible to talk to a person who wants to listen to your problem via phone at NASBA, they just tell you to send an email. So I guess I'll be waiting 5 business days to hear anything. Super.

    ErinCritchfield….I had a similar problem yesterday. I exited the exam and the lady said it wasn't showing up as finished on her computer (and I had a white screen too) so she rebooted my computer and had me go to another computer, enter in my launch code, and then it sent my test to whereever it goes. She did print me a confirmation that I was there without me having to ask. She did seem to know what she was doing so I don't feel worried at all.

    RedRage, I wonder if that's what I needed to do, was log in somewhere else. I guess it's all out of my hands now, but someone is going to get hurt if it didn't work right! I do not want to sit through the beast again!!!

    Anyone in the Tampa/St. Pete/Brandon area know of a good testing center? I'm never going back to the one in Sarasota again, even if I was paid to.

    @rknight21,

    I'm going to have to either watch the movie or pick up the book you mentioned. I'm in need of all the help I can get at this point. I started out the day in good spirits, but as soon as the 4th testlet took too long to load I knew it was gonna go down hill rather quickly. Although, I did wait for 21/2 hours at the testing center in hopes they could bring my exam back up.

    @whenindoubt.

    holy cow! can't believe it…….I am so sorry that sucks. I wouldn't go back to that testing center either. certainly not worth the fee that you paid. UGH.

    @erin,

    I am sorry about your experience as well. I am hoping that it turns out ok for you. Good luck!

    I guess I should count my blessings that I haven't had any trouble with my exam at the testing center……wondering if it is the new exam format that is giving trouble to the system??!!

    I am hoping things work out for both of you guys.
