How would you spend your last week before the exam?

How many hours study a day?

Review, then MCQ? What to focus on? Any tips?

I have studied hard for about 4+ weeks and have the exam in a week and a couple days.

90-120 NINJA MCQs a day

Currently sitting here with 2 and a half weeks left for REG – reviewing all my notes and doing progress tests in between chapters) and finally taking a practice exam the week before (2/21).. then I plan on doing as many progress tests as I can during the last week. I usually study 4 hours a day, 20 hours on the weekend.

Drill your weak areas as hard as possible. Make sure you understand those weak areas!!

Athough tax is the more complicated area to study, don't forget to study the law side equally as hard.

Don't think one area is more important than the other. Although I could say I had more tax questions because of the SIMS, when it came to MCQ alone, I would say they were 50/50 between the tax and law

This issue between the two sections is that a lot of business law is memorization. Tax requires understanding and being able to apply the material. That is crucial to the SIMS and to a lot of the MCQ. If I were pressed for time I would do 50 or so BL questions a day and focus hard on my tax areas. If you know individual well, them make corporate and partnership and property priorities. You still need to keep yourself fresh on individual, but I would do a 10-20 question quiz on that and focus the rest of my time on making sure my weak area doesn't stay a weak area. You have time to grasp concepts in this last week that you may not have understood before so don't think you can't learn anything new at this point or that you can't get an understanding of something that has been giving you problems. If you aren't getting something, ask for clarification on here or google it or watch a youtube video. When the lightbulb goes off, it gives you a boost of confidence!

@Mamabear, I'm not sure If I agree, no offense. I felt tax is a lot of memorization. Sure there are areas that you do need to apply, but a lot of times you need to memorize what are the Schedule A items, what are the deductions, when does the tax basis reduce to 0. Sure there is concept understanding here but for me the Law part was a little trickier to get through. I felt there were more nooks and crannies embedded through each part. Some parts are basic, such as writing out a check, but then they go into all the different things that could be put on the back. Understanding if it's negotiable or not. If it is, then that leads to another slew of items. If not, well then there's another section. People get afraid of tax easier, until they see the law questions on the exam.

Oh I agree with you that tax requires a lot of memorization as well. My point was just that you don't have to apply the blaw in the same way because the SIMS will most likely be tax and can encompass many different tax scenarios. Blaw application will typically be in the MCQ and cover less ground per question, which makes them less intimidating overall. I hated blaw, but ultimately I was glad I studied and nailed down tax the most. I am sure this is a personal preference just like most of the exam. I didn't worry about BEC at all, but I know it took some people several tries because of the range of topics. Everyone is different and everyone has different test experiences and strengths to help form their opinions.
