Ughhhh. Resource prep?

Just saw my latest two scores, 69 for Audit (scored a 74 the first time) and 67 for Regulation. Pretty deflating. I could see Reg, but I felt pretty confident after taking audit (other than I think I got the same sim as last time which was difficult). I’m pretty sure it’s the SIMS.

I’ve only been using Becker so far, but I think it may be time to incorporate other resources for my prep work. What’s the best for SIMS? Or what do you recommend?

How do you learn best? Is it by reading the material and understanding the concepts? Or is it by doing lots of MCQs? I think understanding how you learn is crucial to formulating a study strategy.

Well, I typically read each Becker section, then do the multiple choice, and if I'm not too tired after that…go through that section of flash cards. During the last few days, I run through all the SIMS. It's hard for me to do all of a section's multiple choice Q's and Sims without losing it.

I'd say I'm more concept based. I typically run through the multiple questions twice before every exam.

I think you have a good strategy. I did something similar. I would also recommend when you miss a MCQ you should reread the subject of the question and make sure you understand it cold. The other thing I would recommend, depending on how many MCQs you have, is to do the questions again after studying all the sections. My material was broken up so that I could do that. I think going over the questions again at the end tests retention.

I don't have experience with Becker so I don't know if that strategy is possible. However, based on your current strategy, I think it can be helpful.

Writing my own notes over each Becker chapter has seemed to help me out a lot when preparing for each exam. I typically watch the lecture, write my own notes, study flashcards, and then do the MC questions for each chapter. A week or so before the exam, I usually go through the book and re-write individual chapter notes. That process and working as many cumulative progress tests as possible before each exam has seemed to be effective. Good luck!

    Thanks!

-I try to do the multiple choice questions for the second time right before the exam, although there have been times where time didn't permit, and I skipped some of the fluffier sections for the second time.

-I've never been a big note guy, but maybe that needs to change.

-I think my biggest issue has been with the SIMS. I haven't seen my latest score summary, but on the first time, I was strong in MC and weak in the SIMS. That's been the case for quite a few of my exams. I feel like the Becker ones are either too easy, or I haven't simply gotten one remotely close to what their samples are.

I know Gleim has some SIMs you can do for practice. I don't have any experience with them so I can't comment on how they relate the the actual SIMs.
