Torn on REG….CPAExcel or Wiley?

I’ll say up front that I am going to do the MCQ’s and SIMS for both Wiley and CPAExcel, that’s a given. However, the question is what system should I use for note taking.

I see so many people from Becker and Yaeger and CPAExcel who say that they encountered questions that were on the MCQ’s that were not covered in the materials. I am honestly hesitant to go with the ‘easier’ or more condensed review course in CPAExcel. The flip side to that coin is that Wiley gives you too much information.

It’s hard to argue with success though, Wiley helped me get 87 on audit and 88 on BEC. If I decide to hard study the Wiley, I will end up having to cut out two weeks of my ‘rest’ time and start the studying again in earnest on 4/1 instead of 4/15. I guess I will be rested enough.

This REG exam is key. If I pass it, I will have just one left. Fail it and I am back to half way with the sucker punch to the gut while trying to study for FAR.

Well, I've never used CPAExcel, but I have used the Wiley Online Test Bank, and it helped to shoot up my REG score by 19 points, so I'm a little biased.

I am actually using both CPAExcel and Wiley study materials for REG right now. I personally find myself taking about 90% of my notes from Wiley.

You've done awesome on your past two exams. I'd say continue with what works. Good luck!

But that WILEY books is so BIG and the words are so SMALL !!!!! 😀 That big print book with its wide margins from CPAExcel is calling my name like a sultry woman! 😀

Right, hard to argue with success. I guess I will stick with the one that brough me.

I used the Online Test Bank. I can't speak to the Wiley textbooks, so I too would be swayed by that sultry woman calling your name.

I agree, the Wiley book is brutal. I leave that heavy bastard at work and study from it during my E,L,L periods. CPAExcel is for my leisurely, after-dinner studying.

I used CPAexcel exclusively. I took notes from the slides and would read over the text to make sure all my bases were covered. I didn't run into anything on the exam that was not covered in CPAexcel and got a 90. I do start to memorize questions, though, so I was a little concerned that maybe I needed an additional test bank but I ended up being just fine. I'm using it for BEC next.
