Took Reg today and tough to tell how it went….first section of MC was ok….I have a feeling that the second section was easier but I feel I did well on it…..and I felt the third section was hard…..now I am not sure if you get easier MC for section 2 if you are able to get tougher questions for section 3….anyone know….also what are the chances of passing if you do in fact get easier MC questions…..as for the Sims I think they went pretty well….I had enough time to finish which is always a good thing……any input is appreciated

At first I thought I was crazy and it was impossible, the first time I took regulation I got a 72. I repeat the exam on January 2011 and I studied A LOT, much more than the first time!! To my surprise the simulations were horrible and I have no idea how the exam went for me..Reading this forum I notice I'm not alone, so i'm not that crazy! I'm hoping for a miracle here..

I took the exam during the first week of Feb. The first section was pretty easy and then the second one was definately harder. After that, the third questions were easier. The sims were very hard for me too! I will say though, I hope that all of you passed.

Unfortunately, I don't live in a NASBA State (VA) and I don't get to use the “loophole.” The wait for the scores has been torture. Good Luck to all!

The more I read you guys comments, the more I think I didn't do well. I struggled with the MCQ. I studied my butt off for this as I am weaker in taxes and really focused hard on the complexed concepts but what I got was a lot of questions on obscure details that I know I read but couldn't recall. I could think of 9 questions after the exam that I wasn't sure about. Went home and looked them up and got 4 wrong, 5 right. My testlets didn't really seem to get harder. I remember thinking these questions seemed a bit wordier but since I figured I bombed the first testlet that I wasn't doing so well. Definitely frustrating

I'm definitely worried about my score. Not only did I struggle through the sims, but I also noticed that my MQ testlets did not appear to get more difficult. God, I don't want to take this test again!!

I'm with you Haze…REG was for me a roller coaster of hell. I was lost on the MC, the SIM were horrible. I will confess though, I study like crazy. I am still speech less and upset.

Yep, it sucked. I studied my @ss off, too. This is the most anxious and pissed off I've ever been after an exam. I just want my score already!

How do you study SOOOO hard for an exam and come out of it feeling clueless? Its amazing! I mean no matter how hard you study there is always info they could ask that you didn't cover or ask it in a way that is confusing (SIMS). I've never studied so hard and gone into a test feeling like I didn't prepare at ALL!

Well I guess the good thing is that mostly everyone who took the exam had some issues. I've been trying so hard not to think about my score but its almost impossible. I was even studying a week after my exam on the 23rd…I have enjoyed not studying for the past week and now feel calm and less stressed. I am hoping this feeling lasts and I will be done with this exam come next week at this time! I am dreaming of March Madness, St. Patty's Day, and a passing score to complete my CPA testing…wow this would be the perfect storm for me to get totally wasted!!!!!!!!!!

I heard so much comments about the sims, any better ways to prepare for that?

When I took mine, I felt that the questions went medium to hard to medium. The testlets were pretty confusing for me too. I remember going onto the AICPA's website and running through the practice testlets (about three days before the exam) and feeling that I was ready for war!! Well, war came and I feel that I kicked me squarely right between the legs.

Now I am afraid that I lost eight weeks of my life that I will not get back! Standing by!

@fg I just took REG on 2/28/11. Here's my advice to you based on my experience:

1. Allow yourself as much time as possible for the sims, but a minimum of 1 hr and 15 min.

2. Expect that your sims will be a nightmare and try not to be too rattled when your nightmare comes true. Just do the best you can to answer them.

3. Don't discount nit-picky details when studying as they are tested in MCs and sims.

4. Have a drink both before and after the exam. You'll need it.

I 100% agree with T-Rex fg. I do not feel you can be prepared for the SIMS. They are going to get you know matter what. Pay VERY close attention to details. That I believe was my downfall

Thanks T-rex and HazeEastwood. As far as “detail” goes, do you mean the questions are wordy and very detail, or the exam goes to a very detail level in the book? I am using Becker 2011, do they cover enough detail?

fg, the exam goes into details. Things you may have read over but didn't pay close attention to. I swear, over half of my test was either minute details or weirdly worded questions
