Took Reg today and tough to tell how it went….first section of MC was ok….I have a feeling that the second section was easier but I feel I did well on it…..and I felt the third section was hard…..now I am not sure if you get easier MC for section 2 if you are able to get tougher questions for section 3….anyone know….also what are the chances of passing if you do in fact get easier MC questions…..as for the Sims I think they went pretty well….I had enough time to finish which is always a good thing……any input is appreciated

    thanks

My REG experience was totally opposite than yours. I feel like the AICPA videotaped me while I was studying and then included everything not discussed in any review materials (or the Content Specifications for that matter). The mcqs were all over the place and most were very detailed while covering some obscure topic to the maximum extent. then I went to the sims………….. I almost left the prometric center when I saw the sims, but I had to compose myself and used the IRC to guess on 2 of my sims. Even FAR wasn't this bad. I'm just hoping for a passing score to get this over. Thank you CPA examiners for giving me the worst SIMS possible!!! I appreciated…

herbert7890, I think you responded to my post after I took REG. As you saw I wasn't playing when I said they would ask the 1 thing about a topic I didn't know. There was nothing on the test that I hadn't seen the problem was that the test asked the most obscure things about the subject. I felt REG was far worst than FAR.

I concur with Herbert 7890. I was tested on few topics but at a greater depth. I could recall 2 chapters from Becker that were not even covered on the exam at all. I am sick of not knowing my score, even though I am almost certain I failed. Honestly, I do not even think I could pass this part of the exam ever. My brain functions in logical and systematic fashion. Tax and Law do not follow logic at all to me.

I took my REG on 2/25 and I don't even know how to feel about it. The first MCQ testlet was probably either medium or hard, then the second MCQ testlet got easier, and the third testlet was a bit harder than the second. As far as the SIMS go, there was one tab that I had absolutely no clue what they were trying to ask. I think I nailed the Research one though. Ahhhh, I hate feeling this way. I just want this exam to be over with.

    @ HazeEastwood,

I think the MCQs were similar to the ones from last year. However, the SIMS were probably a bit trickier. Other than that, I really don't know what to say.

    @ HazeEastwood,

I agree with you. REG has always been a roadblock for me. I don't know why; maybe my mind is designed for Audit not for Tax. I just hope this painful ordeal ends soon.

hkboi228, Did you notice any change in the difficulty of your questions? It was really hard for me to tell. The SIMS were worded so crazy I could barely understand what they wanted. I had to read each 4 or 5 times

my questions at first seemed like medium difficulty or perhaps slightly hard, then they got easier, and then they became harder. I only received only one tab in the SIMS that I felt I had no club where to start.

Totally agree with Herb. The simulation topics were kind of ridiculous, and it took about 15 minutes for my anger to subside before I could really focus and get down to serious work on them.

I'm right with you guys on this. I took REG in January and I was completely caught off guard by one of my MCQ testlets. I knew the material I studied, but whatever was in my 3rd testlet was not part of my review course. Hopefully I'm a good guesser!

My sims weren't bad once I finally figured out what they were actually asking for. What's with the cryptic language the AICPA uses to ask those questions? Why can't they just ask a direct question? It really can't be that difficult. On the upside, I did like having the research tabs and being able to flip between sims!

herbert7890- “I feel like the AICPA videotaped me while I was studying and then included everything not discussed in any review materials” That is too funny because I took REG today and feel exactly the same way! I scored a 75 and a 73 on the two Becker Final Exams. I did a progress test of 100 questions and got 87 and had all the simulations down perfect. Yet, I left there feeling as if I might as well have been taking the nursing boards. I scored a 73 the last time I took REG and felt much better leaving that exam than I do now. Even my simulations were on completely obscure topics. I looked at one Sim and thought, Really?! AICPA is really testing this as a simulation, not even a multiple choice questions?! Absurd?! Plus one of the Sims the wording was all jumbled. They actually repeated the same sentence 3 times. Weird. I thought my 1st testlet was very hard. Lots of minor details. I knew about 1/2 for sure. 2nd testlet there were only 3 questions that I was unsure of and had a pretty good guess, but I didn't feel like my 3rd testlet got any harder either. I would be interested to hear from other people that passed but the testlets never got more difficult. Does your performance on the 1st testlet determine the 2nd and 3rd or does your performance on the 2nd determine the 3rd?

Damn, what good is doing all the questions in our review courses over and over again, if they ask something from way out in left field that no one is prepared to answer. An excuse to fail people…(thaaanks) I don't know whats worse the BAR exam or the CPA exam.
