    Hey Everyone,

I am just starting to study for REG. For those of you who have taken REG, how long would you say it takes to be ready for the exam in terms of hours? For those who have taken REG and work full-time, how long would you say it takes to be ready for the exam in terms of days? Thanks!

For the most part it depends on how familiar you are with tax. I crammed for three weeks and made a 67. I did great on tax but failed the business law. Crammed for another two weeks mainly just on business law and finished with an 89. So it really depends on what you're familiar with.

    FAR - 83
    AUD - 79
    BEC - 78
    REG - 67 (3 weeks of study), 89 - I be done!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ Riley – of the 5 weeks of cramming…how many hours were you studying per week? Were you working full time? What material did you use to prepare?

I have exactly 6 weeks to prepare for REG. Trying to avoid the CA educational changes that go into effect on 1/1/14 and only had 2 windows to pass all 4 parts. I've passed 2 parts (AUD & BEC) and sat for FAR on 10/28 (I'll find out on 11/22 if I passed). Assuming I passed FAR, I am mvoing on to what I hope is my last part – REG on 12/5.

I have a full time job and family that require my attention, but trying to get in 30 hours of studying per week. Hoping that will be enough to pass!

Sorry OP, not trying to hijack your post…as you can see I had a similar question. 🙂

    AUD - 84 - 7/19/2013
    BEC - 75 - 8/29/2013
    FAR - 81 - 10/28/2013
    REG - 72 - Retake - 85! I'm DONE!!!

I was doing about 3 hrs a day Monday-Thursday and 6-8 hrs each on sat and Sunday. Friday was me time. I was working full time during the whole process. But all I mainly do is tax so it was the minute details that I really had to study for that part. Was the business law that hurt me. But I was starting to get burnt out bc that had been my schedule for 8 months straight.

    FAR - 83
    AUD - 79
    BEC - 78
    REG - 67 (3 weeks of study), 89 - I be done!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Riley! That is very similar to my current study schedule for the week. I don't have the background in tax that you do, so I have my work cut out for me. I did, however, take an individual tax and a corporate tax class within the past year in order to qualify to sit for the CPA exam, so I'm hoping some of this won't be so foreign to me.

    Congrats on being done!!!
